33. I'm still trying to get your message. I tend to be a bit scatter brained so don't take this as a flame, just trying to understand, ya dig? Essentially you're upset at people in fandom trivalizing your challenges, correct? If this is the case, you may be in the wrong fandom or at least in the wrong group. There are people out there who may not understand but can at least empathize with what you're going through and won't trivalize you for it.

Then again, I could be completely off kilter...

I failed pretty hard at getting it across. I tried a dozen times to find the right wording and I still don't feel like it came out very well.

I'm secure in who I am, I don't really care what people think. It's more that other people feel I should be trivialized by an apparent class of gender-bending people inspired by boy love, as if it should make me angry and feel marginalized. Pointing out to someone that someone else marginalizes them I feel is actually more offensive, because that's saying someone else has that power to do that to me, which I don't feel they do. It sort of proves that these people are still pretty phobic that they want to point out someone else's flaws like that, just to prove that what they think is right. It makes me feel as if they would be ready to do the same to me if it crossed their minds that I didn't meet their criteria as a transsexual. Basically, I think there are people who are being big fat hypocrites about the whole thing, and I was trying to nicely say that people ought to think about it more or lay off. I dunno.

10 - I can sort of see what you mean, but sometimes you have different names(endearments) with different people. Say, your last name for a group of friends from sports. Your full first name for friends from work. A nickname derived from a funny incident for friends at school. Childhood nickname from family. Sometimes it's harder to switch from one name to another for some people, if it really bugs you that much you should consider talking to them about it.

18 - If you don't like her conduct than I hope you have a thing against those guys from shows like The Bachelor. Same thing, just a different sexual orientation, but still building up one stereotype or another.

Personally, I dislike the contestants that put themselves into those situations, more than central attention whore.

22 - Pun intended?

03. I know people probably don't have any idea who I am. (Pokemon/Team Rocket fans from 9-10 years ago, maybe?) Fandom is hard to get honest answers from sometimes... Reading stuff like this makes me very glad that my friends/betas are pretty serious when it comes to good writing and don't hesitate to give me honest crit. I'm very lucky and I feel bad when others don't seem to get the same luck.

10. I have friends who call me "Shads" in real life. It doesn't bother me. I think I like my online name better than my real one.

27. I wouldn't laugh at you. I always loved how, in matters of God/religion that Mulder and Scully switched their usual "skeptic/believer" roles - it not only made for interesting television, but, looking back, I realize that it really was rather cool for the show to portray a somewhat religious person as NOT being a complete idiot-character. As paranoia-filled as it was, The X-Files was great for sparking the idea of "possibilities." Man, it's been a long time since I've watched it, but it used to be my "thing" bigtime... my fandom before I had regular access to the Internet.

50. I don't watch Naruto (I actively avoid it, actually), I have no opinion on the particular pairing, but I really *hate* it when yaoi fans use excuses like that. I've run into people who say they love a particular couple because of the friendship/love between them in a "pure" way and how it's so pure and not about the sex and/or how it's therefore better than het shipping, blah, blah, blah, SLASH IS NOT ALL ABOUT SEX! Blah, blah, blah, I'M NOT INTO THEM FOR THE SEX, yadda, yadda yadda .... then every post they make on a message board/all the talk about over AIM/every fanfic they write/whatever they say regarding the pairing is something ABOUT SEX - some pervy joke, or yakking about hot doujinshi. --- It's all pretty telling to me that "It's not about the sex!" is a complete lie. Now, I'm not judging you specifically, as I'm not in your fandom and I do not know you (maybe you do like your OTP more for the "pure love" and the hot doujinshi is just incidental)... it's just that when yaoi fans go on and on about pure love and great dyamics and crud, then go on and on about "hotness" and porn right after that, it really defeats the "it's not about sex" message completely for me. I kinda nod and mentally say "Yeah, right." (Not that there aren't het shippers the same way, too... but it seems like I've run into it more with yaoi fans).

And I vote for door #1.
