What are some of the weirdest compliments you've gotten?

Not creepy compliments, that's a separate category, but weird ones that either made no sense or made you wonder why someone would even say that.

Old ladies telling me I have great hips for carrying things (ie child bearing hips) like baskets and such easily. It is true (I can carry a toddler on one hip and a laundry basket on the other) but an odd thing to compliment.

Living in the south I have often been complimented on my child bearing hips. Too bad they will never be used for such things lol

I was once told I had a "good Fenian name" by some weird old lady. Since this was the height of The Troubles, this was not a good thing at all.

When I was 11, I had a Science teacher who encouraged everyone with small handwriting to write bigger because 'the size of your handwriting matches the size of your heart'. It made me really self-conscious for ages because people always criticised my handwriting for being small.

I have gotten several comments about how my veins are great when donating blood, but there was the one time I was told that they were beautiful, which was a bit strange.

My mother has complimented me several times about how my nails have a great shape, which puzzles me as I haven't really thought about how the natural shape of people's nails differs.

I don't want to look like someone else, I want to be unique. But it has happened to me several times. I guess I'm bland looking then. Thanks for that, weird complimenters.

I've been told by a few different people how natural and pretty my makeup looks... when I wasn't wearing makeup. I'm just really pale and my eyelashes are very long and dark. Can people seriously not tell when someone is or isn't wearing makeup?

Any variation of "whoa your eyes dude they're like black, that's so intense". Really? I had no idea what colour my own eyes were. Thanks for clearing that up.

Other girls doing that "if I had boobs/a waist/skin/hair/lips/eyes like yours..." thing. I never know what to say. Your body is a good body. You do whatever you want in it. Fuck what anyone else thinks.

My personal favourite was my friend trying to tell me I have an hourglass figure. Trying. She meant it in a complimentary way, but she told me I was shaped like a butternut pumpkin. She tried to fix it by saying "no no. a SEXY butternut pumpkin." I chuckle whenever I remember it.

When I was a teenager...

"Oh, you look so YOUNG!"

Upon seeing from my D: expression that I didn't take this as a compliment...

"You'll be glad for it someday, sweetie."

I mean, yeah, I am now. I like passing for 25 when I'm definitely not 25. But what sixteen year old wants to look eleven?!

"You have such beautiful large eyelids" (told to me by a clerk at Sephora). I had to laugh at myself because I thought she was going to say "beautiful large eyes" and was prepping myself to say thank you, and then that "-lids" suffix stopped me up short.

My mom used to gush over my beautiful hairline at the nape of my neck whenever I'd wear my hair up. I'd always laugh and say, "That's like saying, 'You have beautiful elbows,' or something! What does that even mean???" She'd always say, "I can't explain it! You just do!" I still don't know what she meant. I've seen the back of my head in pictures and my hairline doesn't look remarkable in any way.

A girl from my class "Oh hey, you don't look quite as dead today as usual". O...kay?

A teacher who basically went "I think you're gifted/highly intelligent and only slack off in my class because you're bored". Well, it's lovely that you think that but I simply am not particularly intersted in French atm, also I'm lazy?

And I think this one is more of a "I really don't take it as a compliment" thing but my mother keeps teeling me what nice and small hands I have when I have told her repeatedly that I really hate my short and stubby fingers.

Some of my favorite compliments because they're kind of weird:

-Working the band wrapping booth one Christmas, a mother told me I should be a hand model.

-Working as a waitress across from an antique store, a grandmother came in with her grandson and told me that she'd seen a few paintings of the Madonna at the antique store and that I was lovely & reminded her of the Madonna.

-A friend once told me that my eyes are fairy-like, giving me an ethereal quality.

-Another friend once told me I am impressively weird and that if he were a writer, he'd write a character based on me in everything he wrote.

There was this girl - I suspect African-American girl, judging by the looks and accent - who asked me for directions in and after she told me she liked my eyebrows. I mean, I was flattered, but I thought it was weird. I have mostly non-sculpted eyebrows, so I guess I just figured that might be more of statement in the States, but I dunno. She seemed genuinely nice, though...just, weird compliment.
