Etsy shop? Congrats! I was under the impression that making money off knitting /crochet work is tough.

Nah, just a couple supportive friends who understand what these things are worth and like my work enough to commission a few things.

I've thought about trying an Etsy shop but I'm a little wary of getting in the middle of that mess of other crafters not wanting prices to be too low because it undervalues it and uninformed people not knowing how expensive materials are and being unwilling to pay prices high enough to be worth it.

Oh, I totally get that. One of the problems with etsy is that the market is really saturated for some crafts, and I think knitted/crocheted items falls into that category. So you always have people whose products are... not very nice looking, and people who feel like they have to set prices low to be competitive. On the other hand, good yarn isn't cheap, and your labor is worth something, too. But people who don't knit/crochet don't always understand that. They look at a hand-knit scarf of alpaca wool and compare it with the cheap acrylic mass-produced scarf at Walmart and think that they're being gouged or something.
