What are songs you like but when you listen to the words you are like, WTF?

I have no idea why a Skybox song I like is called Various Kitchen Utensils or what it's trying to say.

I was listening to something and thinking it was cute and then the guy started singing about how this girl looks while she's throwing up. :s

Google says it's Say You Won't Let Go - James Arthur.

I enjoy Pyhä Maa by Turmion Kätilöt, even though I don't understand the language. The WTF part is a random mention of our dear murdered prime minister Olof Palme. I'm told the lyrics are a rant about how violent the narrator is and that he boasts that he killed Palme.

Another catchy, but WTF song is She thinks my tractor's sexy by Kenny Chesney.

Oh, Finnish! Nice. :D

Almost all of Van Morrison's songs. Man has a great voice and some catchy tunes but his lyrics make exactly zero sense.

Tom's Diner. Love the song but I have no idea how it got popular. It is ridiculous.

I've only heard the Britney version. And as far as I can tell, it just sort of ends. Weird lyrics and no real ending to the story. I don't get it or why it is popular.

I've heard the original but prefer the Britney one! I love the actual music so that might be why people love it.

I like the tune, but not the words? Both have to work for me at least to a certain extent for me to like a song, unless it is an instrumental. I don't mean I have to agree with the words because I listen to some pretty hardcore hip-hop, but they have to sound right to me, if that makes sense? And while I like the tune to Tom's Diner, the words just don't work with the tune for me.

I think a lot of rap songs have some weird lyrics if you actually listen to the words. Metaphors that in no way make sense. I love it anyway, though.

Okay so this song was my jam for like two or three years after it came out bc it's so funny to me.

where da hood at? by DMX

First half of the song is a(amazingly homoerotic) homophobic rant. Then the second half is an elaborate extended metaphor about how he's totally superior to all y'all. Except the metaphor he picked is all the ways he could totally fuck some dudes.

So it begins with
"How you gonna explain fuckin a man? / Even if we squashed the beef, I ain't touchin ya hand"
And devolves into
"Since we all right here, you hold my dick while he suckin it"

George Michael's "Father Figure" is a little bit creepy.

Oh man, Idlewild. Roddy Woomble, I love love love your voice but wtf are some of these lyrics? Oblique as shit. Example: "Actually It's Darkness". His solo songs aren't much clearer, just more acoustic.

I had to laugh when on one of their albums they covered Neil Young's "Lookin' for a Love" as a bonus track because it was SO different lyrically. The sentence structures make so much sense!

Lift the wheels up from the roadway
Close your sparrow's glassy eyes
Then walk upon the water
Once more for me
Are those dead diamonds, baby
Or are they stars gone to sleep?

So low that you might miss me
Slowly fades the light
So low that you might miss me
Slowly fades the light

Wait for the Spring

And to this thing
I do surrender
To the darker sin
I climb with a vine
On a graveyard train
Hauling away
Drowning to die
Down full fathom five
To wear the hollow crown
To haunt the hollow trees

What from heaven's tongue is heard
Through the veins
Love sustained
Another night out

So low that you might miss me
Slowly fades the light

Another night out

Wait for the Spring

And to this thing
I give myself
On a graveyard train
Pulling away
Down into heaven
Down into heaven
Down into heaven
To wear the hollow crown
To haunt the hollow trees

To wear the hollow crown
To haunt the hollow trees

WTF, Mark Lanegan, I love you but WTF.

I have a whole playlist of songs about necrophilia, so...I'm not sure if that's a 'duh, yes' or a 'no, I'm immune', actually.

Quite a few few of They Might be Giants and also Iron & Wine. Like, I can appreciate poetry, but a lot of the Iron & Wine lyrics just don't make a lick of sense ato first and second and third glance.
