What is the name of those really soft, thick white/vanilla cookies with a very thin layer of frosting/icing between them? I don't know if they are a brand name item or a general thing.

Anon above told me to find a picture. Googled sandwich cookies and one of the options was for different countries. That made me remember I was thinking of something from Aldi's. So I found them. They are called doppelkeks! So I was misremembering them being soft.

There are depots that collect used cooking oil to turn it into biodiesel. Try googling what's available in your area for cooking oil recycling.

A co-worker's mother died yesterday. We are not particularly close and I am not particularly good with emotions and such. So I don't know what would be an appropriate response.

I thought about getting a card and baking her some cookies but I don't know when she will be back to work or where she lives. And a card seems like a pretty sorry way to show someone you care. And...I don't really like having to respond to people's gratitude. Mostly because I don't know how.

Give your condolences and maybe help her out if there's anything that comes up during work.

I'd recommend not doing the cards or cookies.

At my work, we tend to do a group card for everyone to sign (small business, so one card fits everyone). If a bunch of people sign it, then the gratitude won't be entirely directed at you. You could ask around and see if anyone is organizing something like that. If not, you coud organize it but find a way not to give it to her personally - either leave it on her desk/in her cubby/wherever or mail it, or maybe someone else will volunteer to give it to her.

A few days ago (maybe a few week) the topic of 8tracks alternatives came up around here (because 8tracks is basically unusable now) - I can't find the thread anymore, though. Does anyone know where to find it or what the suggestions for other sites like 8tracks were?
