Re: 2016 confessions & unpopular opinions

I'm of the opinion that there was sense to both sides, but in the end it stopped being about their views for either of them and just became personal. I think Tony was a bit more wrong when it came to the personal stuff, but that Steve could have been a bit more understanding of the fact that Tony just found out how his dad died. But really, Civil War in the end wasn't about two sides with different perspectives, it was about two people who lost their perspective and gave in to the personal.

"Steve could have been a bit more understanding of the fact that Tony just found out how his dad died."

How was he not understanding? He tried to calm Tony down and when that didn't work he tried to get rid of the problem (Bucky). If he had just stood around, there is no doubt in my mind that Tony would have killed Bucky.

I don't think the issue was Steve's lack of understanding, per se... Tony didn't really give anyone a chance to be compassionate about the whole thing. Also, grief over your murdered father isn't really an excuse to go full vigilante and kill someone who wasn't in control of their own actions at the time.

Didn't Tony also mention he was angry Steve had kept it a secret from him up until that point? Granted, that also meant other folks knew, but I think those two things plus the fact Pepper left, were what made him finally flip his shit. Those present were just easy targets IMO.

I'm still going to go out on a limb and suggest this doesn't justify killing Bucky and/or Steve, or anyone else who happens to be a convenient target.

I didn't say it justified it, just that it explains it.
