Re: 2016 confessions & unpopular opinions

Sure, this is true. What's also prudent to remember though, is the number of young voters that have been shockingly excited about anything Putin and everything Putin does (cult of personality etc). If he implies the Russian and US economies are going to be "fixed" because of Trump... well obviously it must be true, right?

What's more likely - and has been more likely for years - is Putin continuing to play at chess with countries like Syria and North Korea (just google how many of his associates take political trips there) an a attempt to engage American troops and distract from his actual goals of expansionism and fairly blatant return to Soviet-style leadership. See: the Ukraine conflicts. The Obama administration had goals that opposed this, and was also informed enough to recognize the possibility of enmity in Putin's camp.

I'm not banking on Trump's team of fuckheads and professional hate mongers to even realize that Putin might have ulterior motives. So yes, putting Trump in power benefits his goals in more than one way. I mean, absolutely, I'm not Russian. I'm not in Russia. I'm not fluent and therefore must at least partially rely on someone else's translation of the things Russian political activists and analysts have written... and let's face it, 99% of the time they're ex-pats writing their exposition pieces from outside of Russian territories to avoid being thrown in jail for them.

Still, it's not really my own opinion I'm espousing, is what I'm trying to say. And I mean, it's Russia, so of course nothing is ever simple.
