There are an awful lot of people in the Yuri on Ice fandom who think there isn't any canonical support for anything besides platonic friendship between Otabek and Yurio.

Of course you have some people who are anti shipping it because them being three years apart and one being 18 means pedophilia!!@ But there are also the kind of people who just think shipping it is a sign of being a delusional fujoshi with slash goggles on too tight and it's those people who I really don't get in this case. It takes a very willing case of genre blindness not to realize that they were intentionally set up to be shipped. I'm not even saying they're going to be canon (if a second season happens) or that anyone has to ship it! But come on. Kubo and co. are who they are, and it's obvious they knew what they were doing with that motorcycle scene and everything after it.

I mean . . . I can kinda see how the motorcycle scene and some interactions were set up as support for Otayuri, but I thought they were just teasing and didn't see any canon romantic hints. Maybe, if there's a second season, they'll become a couple and we can point to those scenes and say that's how it started, but with the way the show ended, I just can't read their relationship as anything but platonic.

Well, I know they were just teasing, but that's still canon support for shipping. Ship teasing is the writers trying to make you ship something by putting in hints, even if the ship won't be canon. The fandom people who I'm talking about are denying that the ship teasing is intentional, and that's where I definitely think they're wrong.
