Old news stories you think about

What are some old news stories you think or wonder about? Missing person cases you're not sure were ever solved, things you didn't get at the time, or just ones you think about in general.

I wonder about Elian Gonzalez. First, if we did the right thing, although ultimately I think we did. I do think it's a shame his family handled it the way that they did, talking him into saying those things, propping him up at Disney... I realize they probably just wanted to protect him, and that Castro's regime was terrifying.

I've read that he's basically a Communist prop now. :/ He's said he's happy but it's not like he's really free to say otherwise. Someone on Reddit claimed their sister went to school with him and he was smug, but who knows, they could've made all of that up. (They said they used to live in Cuba.)

I wonder about a lot of unsolved crimes. The Jon-Benet Ramsey case certainly. I wonder who did it. I don't think it was a family member. Will we ever know? I want to know.

Jack the Ripper definitely. Yes, very old case. But that makes it even more interesting because we probably will never know.

Black Dalia. Zodiac. Basically any famous unsolved case and I'm interested and want to know the truth.

There was that documentary which concluded that her brother did it - maybe accidentally? - and it was a cover up, but it sounded very TV drama to me....

Anything that was particularly traumatizing to read about. The case of the Japanese schoolgirl who was tortured for a month and then murdered. That man who kept his daughter (daughters?) in the basement for decades as well as her multiple children. Albert Fish. And anything unsolved still gives me chills.

I watched a news piece (like 20/20 or Dateline but I can't recall which one) on the man who locked his daughter and some of the children they had in his secret basement. So creepy and fucked up. The last I can remember is the kids who had been locked up writing letters of gratitude to the police and doctors and being excited to finally breathe fresh air and seeing rain fall and snow fall. I also think about it sometimes, wondering how they all are.

I'm always thinking about Helen Bailey but now that the trial is on, it's not old news but new news again. I'm more confused than ever about what happened to her as it seems her family don't think her partner did it and there were other suspects that were never reported.

There are the usual true crime unsolved mysteries (Zodiac, Jon Benet, etc).

So, I will share a news story that I remember seeing as a kid but was seemingly not talked about again (or at least wasn't on the news I saw). It was about a pizza guy who said he was forced to rob a bank. The people put a bomb around his neck and when he was pulled over, the bomb blew up and killed him (I was watching the news when that happened).

That story bothered me for YEARS because I never knew what happened. A couple years ago, I finally looked it up. Here is the link if anyone wants to read up on it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Brian_Douglas_Wells

I've wondered about the "naked man suspect" from the Boston Marathon bombing. I thought I saw the story briefly during the manhunt but couldn't find anything about it later. A few pieces have come up on it since then (http://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/the-naked-man-watertown-and-conspiracy-theories), but no official statement afaict. I think it stuck with me because my first thought and fear was/is: "The police can force you to strip in public based on suspicion alone, and even if you're innocent, there won't be anything said about it afterwards."
