For all those little things that bug you.

One thing that has started to bug me is that more and more websites are starting to randomly place articles on their front page rather than placing them with the newest ones on top. It is especially annoying on list websites. I don't want to see ones I've already read on top, and what's the point of making people scroll through old articles to get to new ones? Very frustrating. It makes a little sense on Faceebook, but I've yet to see another website where this sort of thing makes sense.

It's about keeping things that are clearly popular where they can be easily seen by people who haven't read them yet in the hopes that those things will bring in even more clicks.

My hands smell like onions. I have not touched an onion since yesterday. Onion smell is disgusting.

I've had to cut back on my onion consumption because it seems to be causing body odor days after I've eaten it. Which makes me sad because I love onions. A lot.

Rubbing your hands with something made of stainless steel is supposed to get rid of strong smells.

Do you have any citrus? Any kind of citrus and soap will pretty much kill that smell.

The uncertainty of not knowing something.

Also the 2 minute ads for coke they play in front of some movies at carmike.

Re: Pet Peeves

(Anonymous) 2017-01-17 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
See, my peeve would be just with Carmike itself, lol.

Once I sat through a literal hour of ads and previews and nearly left before the movie started. And it's not like I even showed up super early, maybe 15 minutes before.

People who try and get on an elevator/stand RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE DOORS before letting people off. Extra points if they give YOU a dirty look because you bump into them.

Cars who expect me to respect the rules of the road while I'm biking (fine) but then treat me like a non-entity by ignoring my turn to go at stop signs etc.

People are incredibly self-centered when it comes to elevators. I use them every day at school and and I always notice at least one person acting like this. They press the button, get impatient if it takes more than five seconds to arrive, stand in front of the door and try to immediately get on without waiting for other people to get off, and then they try to get off on the first floor the elevator stops on because it doesn't occur to them that it might be stopping at some other floor than theirs first.

YES about elevator behavior, and people do this on the train too. there's even a loud voice announcing to let people off the train before you try to board and people still do it!! they see you stepping off and STILL get in your way in their hurry to get on, after looking you in the face! ugh

My roommate constantly leaves lights on. I've commented on this to her, and she still does it. She'll leave the bathroom light on "for ambiance".
WHY DO I HAVE TO FOOT THE ELECTRIC BILL BECAUSE YOU WANT THE LIGHT ON IN THE BATHROOM WHILE YOU'RE NOT USING IT??????????

Re: Pet Peeves

(Anonymous) 2017-01-17 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Tell her if she wants ambiance she can fucking buy some candles.

That would drive me nuts, especially if I was footing the whole bill. Can you get some money out of her or something? (Or take away all the lightbulbs? >.>)

THAT WOULD DRIVE ME NUTS

and who leaves on a bathroom light for "ambiance"???

I had a roommate once who got hot in the winter when we had the heat on in the house. so she opened the WINDOWS. (without turning off the heat.) It was college housing so we weren't paying a utility bill, but if we had been I would have hit the roof.

It's not fucking hard to be on time. It really isn't. And if you are consistently late for the same thing at the same time, WHY ARE YOU NOT LEAVING EARLIER?

I have actual, literal anxiety over being late for things. This drives me nuts.

Re: Pet Peeves

There was a guy in one of my classes who was always late and one time he was complaining about how there's always construction at one part of the road. I asked him why he couldn't plan around it if it was always there.

Today was my first day back at work after being out sick for part of last week. And the lady that filled in for me left things a mess. First of all, my pens were scattered all over the office and she took one of them home with her (I know, not really that big of a deal, but I like my pens!). When she screwed up something on a client's account, instead of editing it like she's supposed to, she opened a whole new account, which makes a lot more work for me. Told a client that I'd do something that literally CANNOT BE DONE, and I'm sure I'm going to get a lot of shit from that client for it (I'm sure she'll be pissed off and all "but the other lady said you would!"). Left me a million notes everywhere saying "I didn't know how to do X so I didn't do it" or "I did Y but I didn't know how so I did it wrong, please fix it for me", and left duplicates of most of those notes in client's accounts in the computer. Put paperwork in the wrong place even though I've told her a dozen times where it's supposed to go.

Nothing she did is unfixable, so it's not technically a huge deal, but I spent the entire day today fixing everything she messed up and didn't have time to do anything else so now I'm a day behind on my big projects that are due in the next couple weeks. Argh!

bad drivers

I think that's always going to be my answer

today, in particular: really slow drivers who either a. cut you off by turning right in front of you so that you have to brake really hard to not hit them, and then not speeding up at all and b. people who go 5+ MPH under the speed limit on one-lane streets ffffffffffffffffffff

"You know (insert person here) did that, right?"

I know. Either it doesn't bother me or it does but it's not a big deal and my depression and anxiety makes it appear so. No one is perfect.

Why oh why do some supermarkets place their bakeries literally NEXT TO THEIR SEAFOOD SECTION? Don't they understand smells travel and get into things, especially at that short a distance? I always hesitate to get anything from the bakery, even fresh, because there's an unusual aftertaste. Harris Teeter and Lowes Foods in particular are guilty of this.

Series that do big obvious plot hooks and then forget about them entirely. (Like Jenny in Doctor Who)

People who attach too much importance to headcanons. Seriously, someone else headcanoning that Character is straight is not an attack on you headcanoning Character as gay. It's like you saying your favorite color is green and they say their favorite color is red.

Attaching moral values to food. I don't want to hear your self-flagellation for what a disgusting fat pig you are for baking this cookie recipe you're sharing. "Healthy" is a meaningless buzzword, just give me the nutritional information! And I'm not even going to touch PETA lying about how eating 'bee vomit' will make baby Jesus cry for your murdering soul.

Also on food, anyone who goes on a recipe review site and types anything along the lines of "I tried this recipe for garlic bread but instead of bread I used a turnip and instead of butter I used coconut oil and instead of garlic I used kale and instead of baking for 400 degrees for 5 minutes I baked it at 450 for an hour and it was disgusting! 1 star" should be banned from commenting anywhere on the internet for a year.

People who take up the entire counter when fixing their coffee drive me nuts, especially if they're the type who needs to count out exactly 23 grains of turbinado, half a teaspoon of half-and-half and two of skim milk to add to their damn 99 cent gas station coffee. Budge over -- I promise not to steal the best stirrer.
