Anyone else seeing this comment being thrown around as an insult all the time. Not at Trump supporters, but at anyone protesting or seeming to be liberal in an obnoxious way?

Those people might be annoying, but if someone voted for Trump to piss off annoying people (and I DON'T think the majority of Trump voters did), they are an idiot and basically chose to let those annoying people have more power than they should.

While the main reason Trump won is because of the idiots who voted for him, the people who didn't vote at all and a faulty voting system, the liberal left has some part in it as well because of their behaviour.

The amount of people who voted to piss off "YOU ARE THE REASON HE WON" people is probably so minuscule, it didn't effect anything.

He won because he was able to play to what ignorant, rural states wanted. And now they are realizing that "Oh shit, I didn't realize Obamacare and ACA were the same thing."

I know someone like that. What it boils down to is people (mostly white men) who think asking them to acknowledge their privilege is trying to guilt them for history. And their delicate little feefees don't like that feeling and will go against the group that "caused it."

Basically, "my white guilt is worse than your oppression."

For a group of people who mostly claim to be Christians, very few Trump voters seem to think that Matthew 25:45 applies to them. Anyone who would vote to take health insurance away from millions of children out of spite is a terrible excuse for a human being. Some of them are getting an inkling of what they've actually done and because they can't cope with the ugliness inside of themselves, they're lashing out and blaming those evil liberals who "made" them vote for an inept, corrupt, perverted, mentally unstable and horrifically bigoted man who was the darling of the Klan and chose a self-proclaimed white supremacist to be his campaign manager because someone called them a racist on the internet once.

Your post reminded me of a lady I work with. She's very friendly and helpful (or she used to be anyway), but she voted for Trump even though she only has healthcare through ACA because of preexisting conditions. She said that he was going to fix it, not take it away. However, since hearing that he is gonna repeal it, she seems to be freaking out and has started complaining about "violent liberal sheep who just won't give him a chance" and how Hillary was the devil and who else was she supposed to vote for? She's not so pleasant to be around anymore and I've stopped making chitchat with her because she'll end up complaining about "passive sheeple and violent liberals".

Yup. Personal responsibility is something it seems a lot of people will do anything to avoid. So they point the finger at somebody, anybody else (ignoring that greater number of digits pointed back at themselves).

Then again, you have people like my Dad who worship Trump. Those people? Nothing will ever get through.

I didn't call Trump voters idiots.

I said that IF someone voted for Trump just to piss off annoying liberal people (rather than, voted for him because they thought he was the best candidate and liked his policies), THEN that person would be an idiot.

I also said that I don't believe most Trump voters voted for that reason.

I would think the same of anyone who voted for any candidate to piss off annoying people. Because it's putting a desire for revenge above your responsibility to choose the person you think will be best for the country.

People replying to you are being very generous and forgiving of these types by saying they have any kind of legitimate nugget of truth in what they're saying– or even that they actually believe it themselves.

The reason they tell you "YOU/THIS is why Trump won!" is because they're attempting to gaslight and divide liberals. They're trying to make you believe that caring about social justice and minorities is harmful to Democratic success. They're trying to make you attack one another. They are trying to move BOTH parties further and further right. They are trying to make more moderate Democrats turn to their gay friends, their feminist friends, their POC friends and tell them, "you're costing us votes!" They're trying to quiet the voices of the oppressed and keep people from speaking out. They're trying to quash your justified anger toward a biased and bigoted system, and guilt you for calling it out.

It's not just them being obnoxious– think about why they would try to give the liberals a plan for success? What good would it do them? They're doing the opposite, and trying to poison you. Do not let them succeed.

The question, of course, is what qualifies as a win. If the Democrats elect a candidate who strips away rights from minorities, I can't call that a "win" any more than if the Republicans do.
