What one-episode/background characters have you latched onto? Do you ship them with anyone?

Stargate was excellent at background/minor characters. And they'd pop up again randomly, doing their thing for one line or just sitting there in the background. Canadian Chuck the gate guy was a good one. And that one doctor who did the twilight bark comparison.

Little Sam in TWD. And I hated how fandom treated him. :(

Hrm. I can't think of anymore. Well, there are some I like but just because of one fic or another.

I didn't exactly love Sam but fandom is always over the top with hatred of kid characters. Like not that long ago I could barely go into a post without being drowned in Carl hatred, only recently have the tides seemed to turn on him.

I hated how they were like, UGH! THIS KID IS AWFUL!!! WHY IS HE ACTING LIKE THAT???

-He had an abusive father
-His father was recently murdered
-Another adult (Carol) threatened to tie him up in the woods for zombies to kill him
-His mom was ignoring his problems
-He was also dealing with the whole zombie apocalypse

Nephry Osborne from Tales of the Abyss. Idk why, maybe because I just have a lot of Keterburg feelings and she gets left out of a lot of fanworks, I'm like her single solitary stan lmao.

I ship her with all three of the Keterburg boys, all for different reasons.

My main Bleach ship is Karin/Snake, one of whom is a tertiary character and the other of whom is a filler character that's half the physical manifestation of a magic sword. They interact in all of one (filler) episode. There's not a lot of fanart.

Kenny, Joey's interpreter on The West Wing. I totally ship him with Josh, and I really don't know why. Also Mallory, who I ship with Sam, and I ship with Josh (sometimes, when I'm not headcanoning them as childhood friends who went to summer camp together and are still good friends), but I don't OT3 them at all.

I find the brotherhood without banners in GOT interesting, specifically Beric.

I don't know if I am happy or sad the show isn't going in the same direction as the book regarding them, but I was happy to see them again last season since I didn't know if they'd ever show up again.

Ooh I love Beric too, and half-heartedly ship him with Thoros. I really love their relationship with The Hound as well. I hope they play some kind of part in S7.

In X-Men: Legacy, there was a character named Luz that was used in one storyline and never used again.

Also from X-Men, I actually liked Nurse Annie. Chuck Austen's writing is obviously terrible, but I kind of liked it because of that.

The very first one-episode wonder I ever remember latching onto was a mad scientist's reluctant assistant in the Little Mermaid TV show. (Yes, there was a Little Mermaid TV show. In retrospect, it probably wasn't all that good.) He had a good conflict going between his work for the scientist and his basic human decency. A lot of my love for good guys who're employed by bad guys can be traced back to him.

I'm so bad at coming up with lists, but I am such a sucker for minor characters.

My favorite minor character in Ace of Diamond is Kawakami Nori, because I relate to his anxiety issues. And sidearm pitchers are just fucking cool.

Meredith on Mad Men. I totally ship her with Don. She's perfect.

The blind girl in that one episode of X-files

The Doctor's daughter, from that one episode of Ten. I really liked her, she was adorable. In my mind, she's off having Time Lord adventures throughout the galaxies.

ASRIC AND JADAAR

Maria Hill in the MCU, who I think is cool and hot af. I could be down with some ships with her, especially f/f ones, but I've got no one in particular I super ship her with.

Sort of Minor but Aria T'Loak in Mass Effect, I loved doing the Omega bits with her and I shipped her with Nyreen in the Omega DLC.

tbh i kind of feel that way about most of the MCU characters that i like, but especially the women

they're all great characters but I don't feel inspired to ship them with anyone. sometimes I just nose around random ships on AO3 and they're usually fine but don't inspire me to seek out more, you know?

Dwarf!mom in House. he had more chemistry with her than any other character besides Wilson, and yes, I do ship them.

Detective Josie Tigertail on The Glades and Mark Chao on Charmed.

I shipped Josie with main character Jim Longworth & Mark Chao with Piper Halliwell. I'm still bitter about the second one. I mean, if she was GONNA marry a dead guy, I don't see why it couldn't have been Mark. Although, yeah, in the grand scheme of things, it's better for John Cho's career that it wasn't.

I do have a bit of a tendency towards this, like roleplaying Varda, one of the Valar, who besides their given roles, don't have huge reams of characterisation, Elros, Elrond's brother who also has almost no characterisation to speak of, G1 Ultra Magnus - strictly the cartoon version, Jowan, a relatively minor Dragon Age character who appears at the most, three times (and that is if you play a mage and work out how to even get the third scene which is bugged), and do I have to mention the Silmarils? They aren't even characters in canon, they're plot devices.
