I always felt bad for liking this series (OVA and books) because it's hot and interesting but it's also very literally rapey. And even though it doesn't really treat it as anything other than what it is, I still feel guilty.

It's a tough one because there is actually a lot of world-building, and while none of the sci-fi elements are probably unique to the genre, they are still pretty well developed. There's quite a lot of plot in the books that isn't romance/yaoi, and even in the original anime, I actually think the story is interesting.

Sure, the Iason/Riki stuff gives me sexy shivers, rapetastic or not, but porn aside, the plot is pretty cool. Also, the ending was pretty great, much better than a happily-ever-after.

Yeah I liked that it wasn't a HEA ending when realistically that would never have been possible.

But it never pretends the raping is good. I think the entire premise was that it was bad, and the ending confirmed that.
