My interpretation of 37 is that they like that there are no black people BECAUSE black characters are inevitably horrifically stereotyped, a la the picture in their secret. I have PoC friends that feel that way about mainstream comics, that they don't want any black characters because they're always lame, or sacrificial lambs, or whathaveyou—there's a reason deadbrowalking has that name. I'm not a comics person myself, but I'm sympathetic. For that matter, I'd rather that TV shows not have a CoC than have to watch yet another f***ing Magical Negro or Mammy or Sassy Sistah or Reformed Brotha from da Streets (like, the one black character in Six Degrees). Seriously, it drives me to reality TV where at least the black folks (and the Asian folks, and the Hispanic folks) can just exist without having to carry all that symbolic weight.

I understand that it could go another way, but the text + the image = that interpretation for me.

Ah. Well, the secret poster didn't specify, and to be honest, I'm not the only one that assumed they meant something of the opposite, if you see the other comments regarding the secret.

I suppose I wish I had your faith in people that I could believe that that's all the OP meant. There are places on the internet where people say the same thing as that secret, and they mean it in a very different way. Perhaps the OP did mean what you're suggesting, but it seems odd that they wouldn't specify when it seems just about everyone has read the secret the same way I did.
