(Anonymous) 2017-02-22 12:07 am (UTC)(link)2. A former bully will do anything for the daughter who's given up on her dreams and the grandson who's making all the wrong choices.
3. A father comes face to face with his son's demons.
4. Parents realize their estranged son is actually kind of a hero.
So...apparently I'm all about family drama.

(Oops misread the comment, didn't pick a specific fandom. The above is what it boils down to in every fandom though.)
Re: Break it down to the bones
(ha, just realized this describes at least two of my fics)
- Learning to let go of unattainable goals and a desire for revenge that are blinding him to happiness he could already be having.
- A thief playing "BDSM Chicken" with a soldier and ends up accidentally causing tons of mayhem and also joining the army.
- The whole amnesia thing was a red herring; everybody's actually dead.

Re: Break it down to the bones
(Anonymous) 2017-02-22 01:19 am (UTC)(link)Fandom One
-Person A and Person B have to pretend to be married and deal with the fact that they've fallen in love without realizing it
-Person A makes an unconventional marriage proposal to Person B for non-romantic companionship but actually they've fallen in love
Fandom Two
-Person A sees Person B exercising and is driven mad with lust by their body and they fuck
-Person A and Person B slowly fall into an actual, functional relationship without meaning to, and are unexpectedly happy with it
-Person B pretends to hate and be annoyed with Person A while actually they slowly circle around each other falling in love (actually I have about 5 stories bookmarked that fit into this category with this ship)
Fandom Three
-Person A and Person B are clearly into each other and trying to work out a functional loving romantic relationship despite their individual issues and insecurities

2. They share initmate detail about their personal lives.
3. They develop a (often tenuous) connection.
4. Sex.
Re: Break it down to the bones
(Anonymous) 2017-02-22 04:47 am (UTC)(link)Former friends/lovers, now rivals/enemies, but they still can't shake the connection between them. (So. Much. Smutty. Fic.)
A character who, despite being awesome, doesn't feel like they're deserving of happiness. (Fanfictionally, could go into either angstfests or fluff where people shower them with love and affection.)
(That character sometimes overlaps with the Iron Woobie/Stoic Woobie fetish that pops up from time to time.)
Re: Break it down to the bones
(Anonymous) 2017-02-22 05:25 am (UTC)(link)My needs are simple. All the plot that happens is just a diversion for pining.
Re: Break it down to the bones
Like, a soulmate AU where the endgame pairing isn't actually soulmates. Or, a fairytale AU where the leads end up going their separate ways instead of getting the fairytale happily ever after ending.
