The gay overtones of this anime are impossible to overlook, and there have certainly been anime before it that could openly state that yes, these characters are having gay feelings for each other. There is no excuse for the ambiguity with which they treated Yuuri and Viktor, unless of course the ambiguity was what they were going for all along.
