My current one. He's a young man with too much money. This street has half-acre blocks and he's turned his into a mini-industrial park, with a giant shed, and a slab of concrete of about 200 square meters. He's built up this slab so it's up to half a metre above mine, and drains it straight onto mine, flooding it after rain. I've been fighting it about 8 months now and the local council isn't helping.

When I reported the most blatant of the drains (a real gusher) while Neighbour was away for six weeks, on his return he turned up on my doorstep without warning and berated me, scaring me quite badly. Apparently I should have known to knock on a particular door across the street because they have his email address and would have contacted him and he would have fixed it. So it was All My Fault he was in trouble with the council.

He's put in a massive fence and tried to get me to pay for half of it. I fought him to a biggish reduction in mediation but it was very hard going for a chronically ill woman.

His original idea for the fence was that he would slope his concrete slab onto my property, just intruding on it by "half a metre or so", to provide footings for the fence. He... doesn't seem quite rational to me, which is one reason why I'm scared of him.

I've got to keep plugging away at the drainage issue because boy howdy do I want to move out, but I reckon he's knocked about $20 - $30,000 off the value of my house and at my time of life I can't afford to lose that.
If the council would just do its damn job it would be so much easier – but I think someone there has made a mistake and is covering his arse and I may have to go to the ombudsman.
