Currently, my only neighbor complaint is that I live in an apartment and I hate when they don't take their damn clothes out of the washer/dryer right away. Like, our floor has one washer, one dryer. Have enough damn courtesy to keep an eye on the clock and get your clothes right away. It is not cool to leave it there for an hour.

I'm too chicken to be a dick and take out their clothes myself, there aren't any baskets or tables in our laundry room and I am not quite mad enough to throw it on the floor. But still!

Past worst neighbor was an older, mentally disabled woman whose asshole adult children would make babysit their kids. The woman would scream and hit the kids, in plain sight, so I'd always call the cops. Really though I hated her adult children, they were sleazy fucks who were constantly emotionally manipulating and taking advantage of their seriously disabled, low IQ mother who should not have ever been in a place to watch young children alone without supervision. It was just a gross situation all around, and I never knew what I should do about it, besides call the cops whenever I witnessed the hitting.

Inconsiderate dog owners. Why, yes, let your dog off the leash to poop in the park across the street so you don't have to pick it up or even take the dog over there. The dog was run over by a car and killed? Color me shocked.

I used to have a neighbor who let her dog shit in the hall of the apt bldg and didn't clean it up

The people on the street my parents are moving to are by-and-large assholes. They blocked my parents' renovation of the house they're moving into for about a year just because they hate change. (I'm not kidding)

The sad part is, people do this at my apartment, despite there being a leash law. Yes, open your door and let your dogs charge down the stairs, no hazard there, no sirree.

My upstairs neighbor doesn't sleep and can't hear, so she blasts her TV all the time. Like 3 AM. And stomps around all the time. It's really frustrating.

My parents' neighbors don't cut the grass for WEEKS at a time. They moved out and now the new neighbors were complaining to my parents about how bad the lawn is because it wasn't maintained properly (my parents know the new neighbors fairly well before they moved in)

some people can be really frustrating to deal with though because they just don't care how their actions affect others :/

I had a roommate once who would leave her bedroom door open well into the night and watch shows/get on Skype without headphones and laugh really loudly

Just the usual assholes. One side thinks its fine to party to four AM every AM, and the other thinks that 7AM is the perfect time to start with power tools even on Weekends.

My current one. He's a young man with too much money. This street has half-acre blocks and he's turned his into a mini-industrial park, with a giant shed, and a slab of concrete of about 200 square meters. He's built up this slab so it's up to half a metre above mine, and drains it straight onto mine, flooding it after rain. I've been fighting it about 8 months now and the local council isn't helping.

When I reported the most blatant of the drains (a real gusher) while Neighbour was away for six weeks, on his return he turned up on my doorstep without warning and berated me, scaring me quite badly. Apparently I should have known to knock on a particular door across the street because they have his email address and would have contacted him and he would have fixed it. So it was All My Fault he was in trouble with the council.

He's put in a massive fence and tried to get me to pay for half of it. I fought him to a biggish reduction in mediation but it was very hard going for a chronically ill woman.

His original idea for the fence was that he would slope his concrete slab onto my property, just intruding on it by "half a metre or so", to provide footings for the fence. He... doesn't seem quite rational to me, which is one reason why I'm scared of him.

I've got to keep plugging away at the drainage issue because boy howdy do I want to move out, but I reckon he's knocked about $20 - $30,000 off the value of my house and at my time of life I can't afford to lose that.
If the council would just do its damn job it would be so much easier – but I think someone there has made a mistake and is covering his arse and I may have to go to the ombudsman.

The drunk redneck meets drug-dealer meets scammer. Like, this guy couldn't keep an honest job to save his ass, was fucking growing marijuana in his yard and thought the police wouldn't find out, and had a meth lab going at the same time.

Good god I hated him.

So, so many. It's hard to decide between the neighbors that had our water turned off by the city without telling us (a sprinkler head was broken in drought season, but instead of telling us - we were home - they decided on the most onerous option) or the girl who had drunken screaming arguments with her boyfriend in the parking lot at 3am. Or maybe the girl that actually attended school with me and would creepily hang out in front of our apartment with her dog, waiting for us to have to bring out our dog. I still haven't figured that one out. Ironically, I'm good friends with her roommate - we bonded over the fact that she was creepy af.

I'd say less idiot and more mean because the guy who lived next to me as a kid was an abusive asshole to his dogs and had screaming matches with his girlfriend multiple times a week.

His front garden was also a mess for like 10 years before he renovated it, back garden was still a tip though.

Some neighbors set off illegal fireworks. My neighbors play Jack-Be-Nimble with them. They also kept a doberman and a pit bull, both of which had an overdeveloped sense of territory and would flip out if you so much as walked near the side fence to the yard. (I learned pretty quickly to cross the street when I was walking my dog. The neighbors had to drag the dobie off her. Luckily, she wasn't hurt.)

The moron who neglects their pooch until it's screaming and crying and banging at its doggy gate. I swear 65% of the noise that comes from that apartment comes from the poor thing.

Last year my upstairs neighbors were cooking fried chicken, then caught the grease on fire. Then they tried to dump water on it. That went exactly how you expect.

Luckily their place was only a little fire damaged BUUUUUT the sprinklers effectively flooded their apartment, which effectively flooded OURS.

Old place I used to live at had terrible (no?) soundproofing between my basement apartment and the one directly above me) so I could always hear them fucking. I wanted to thank her boyfriend for lasting about 30 seconds so at least I never had to list to it for long.

But then they took up pot smoking and she argued with her roomie/cousin at ridiculous volumes so I gave up and moved after complaining multiple times to my landlord.

a 400 pound fish faced bible thumper who screamed through the wall while I was having sex with my boyfriend. And then later told me to my face to stop having sex. I told her to mind her own fucking business.

When I was a teen, I had some neighbours who were growing marijuana in a townhouse whose postage stamp backyard backed onto a busy road. Of course they then accused Mum of calling the cops on them, when the cops had to go through our backyard to get into theirs.

This is a minor annoyance but our neighbors park their cars alongside the road where our yard is so when people visit they have to park either in our driveway or far away.

My old neighbors would get on us to mow our yard if we didn't mow the day before or the same day as them. We mowed every week my husband and I taking turns so our grass wasn't super long or anything. Then we ended up going out of town for a couple weeks because my husband's mother was in the hospital and honestly I didn't even think about the yard. First day back, my husband was at work and I had taken an extra day off to relax. I went outside to mow the grass and there were people setting up to mow our grass. Our neighbor came by with the bill and went off on me for not mowing the yard and not answering when he came to complain. I'd understand if we didn't mow our yard but we were pretty consistent.

We also had a weed problem when we moved in because the previous neighbors never took care of their landscaping. Both our neighbors complained last year because we didn't put plants in, but the reason that happened was because of time, money, and I was doing it all by myself and I honestly was done after I got all the weeds out and making the beds look presentable. Figured I'd do it this year. I'm not really a gardener either so I wasn't sure what plants I wanted to put in last year.
