Some neighbors set off illegal fireworks. My neighbors play Jack-Be-Nimble with them. They also kept a doberman and a pit bull, both of which had an overdeveloped sense of territory and would flip out if you so much as walked near the side fence to the yard. (I learned pretty quickly to cross the street when I was walking my dog. The neighbors had to drag the dobie off her. Luckily, she wasn't hurt.)

Ughhhhhhh, people who set off fireworks in the neighborhood at any time other than the Fourth of July are the worst (and even then, it can still be annoying if they're not careful about it and do so at a crappy time of night).

I used to have neighbors who had a cracky dog that was half coyote and went berserk every time anybody walked past the house, even on the opposite side of the street. they actually ENCOURAGED this.
