Dmitri is okay. Jensen as a first name isn't so great, and is obviously tied to that actor.

I 100% disagree that it's obviously tied to the actor.

I don't particular care for it as a first name, but it's completely within the normal range of names Americans give kids

You just need to spell it funny, like "Jensynn" or whatever.

(Anonymous) 2017-03-31 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Ohhh, that "yooneek" spelling hurts my eyes.

(Anonymous) 2017-03-30 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah. Outside of Supernatural, most people have no idea who Jensen Ackles is.

(Anonymous) 2017-03-30 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't assume it's tied to the actor, but it does sound like one of those annoying first names that really is supposed to be a last name. Jackson, Jensen, etc. Those names are really grating to me.

........someone I'm very close to IRL is named Jackson. It's a name that has been around as a first name for a long time. Some names just happen to be both. That is not a good example.

(Anonymous) 2017-03-31 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
...you being close to someone with that name irl doesn't change that it's grating to me? I know rl Jacksons, too. I hate the name. It sounds like a last name. Full stop, not changing my mind.

(Anonymous) 2017-03-31 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
Better than Jaxon.

(Anonymous) 2017-03-31 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, well, I'm gonna go with diet_poison here. Your opinion is dumb. There are plenty of last names that are more commonly first names, just as Jackson has a long history as both a last and first name.

I don't care whether or not you change your mind about your distaste for the name. I just hope you realize it's a dumb opinion, and as diet_poison said, a bad example for the point you're trying to make.

lmao so defensive over someone else's opinion on names

It's categorically different from a name like Jensen. It's not a new or trendy name (not that those are inherently bad, either). It's one of those names that can be categorized as both.

You don't have to like it, but you sound like you look down on people who choose names like that and there's really no reason to.

(Anonymous) 2017-03-31 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"you sound like" = "I want to have a go at you so I will make something up about your motives"

People don't have to have reasons for things and yes, they don't have to like things. End of.

(Anonymous) 2017-03-31 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a perfectly good example. Just because you like someone with that name doesn't mean no-one is allowed not to like the name. I agree lastname firstnames sound cheesy.

My entire point is that "Jackson" isn't a "lastname firstname"...
cloud_riven: Bill from Pokemon side-eying to the left! Judging you! (*animu sweatdrop*)

Idk man. If I met a baby called Jensen, my first question would be, "Are you some kind of cop?"

The actor is not the first thing that comes to my mind. Tbf I'm not deep into spn.

(Anonymous) 2017-03-31 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
My first thought would be Adam Jensen, not Jensen Ackles.
