In horror movies, characters that don't even try to keep safe. Some of their decisions are just ridiculous.

Monster actively trying to kill everyone in your family? Let's all sleep in separate rooms! Including the kid brother; he'll be fine all alone in his room.

Monster can only move in darkness and is weak to light? One flashlight is probably enough.


If I honestly thought a demon or ghost was after me, I would do everything possible to defend myself.

Yes yes yes. Have everybody be smart and do it right and the monster *still* gets them - that's a much better movie.

Heee! Well, but - they irritated me with the standing around doing nothing while the suns went dark with a *solar powered vehicle* (I never understood why they waited so long to get the power cells and get to work on the ship they found).

But yeah, mostly pretty good.

I always assumed they were too busy dealing with the injured person.

It's been about ten years since I saw that movie but I seem to recall an injured person.

I don't remember an injured person. I mean, there *were* injured people, but they were dead pretty quick. There wasn't any extended care scene that i can recall.....

(Must rewatch.)

Yeah it was shockingly good for what it was. In general, almost none of the people in it acted like idiots and they still pretty much got got lol

I'll have to look that one up. Any other suggestions? The only one I can think of at the moment is You're Next.

It's honestly pretty rare to have a horror film where someone isn't an idiot, but as far as I can remember The Descent also generally featured most of the characters acting fairly smart under the circumstances. And then even most of the "dumb" things that were done could easily be attributed to a reasonable fear response rather than someone making a clear-headed stupid decision.

So that one gets a high rec from me.

Edit: Also YES. You're Next was actually a big shocker. I expected it to be terrible but it wound up being honestly pretty amazing.

I've heard good things about The Descent, I'll def have to watch it sometime.

Yeah, I thought the same about You're Next. Like, another movie where psychos kill everyone and the heroine runs around crying and hiding. She was great though. We need more characters like that.

I have not. I haven't had much time for movies for the past year or so.

It's about a killer going after a deaf woman and finding that she's not the easy target he expected.

There are parts of the movie that are completely silent. It really adds to the atmosphere.
