Afaik they actually consulted charities/support centres to try and be more on the realistic side. I'm not saying that those conversations influenced the decision to have an older victim (it was probably already decided) and I don't know much about these things but it does seem to me like the series is handling it fairly well. They've even emphasised at a couple of points that it's not about attraction etc and the one character who said in anger (not that it's justified, still awful to say) "of all the women there, who would rape you?" was definitely portrayed as being unreasonable to put it mildly.

I just hope the revelation of who did it doesn't veer off into somehow making Trish partially responsible. That fear has been lurking in the back of my mind I have to say.

Rapist is the stalker vicious black guy.

Really or just speculation? I thought that was coming across as too obvious so have pretty much assumed it's the taxi driver, though he's a bit obvious too tbh.

nayrt It's speculation. His character is a suspect, but there are two episodes left in the series so it's not guaranteed. In fact, they're signalling him as a suspect so strongly, I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be someone else as a "gotcha!" moment because this is a mystery series, after all.

If it's like the first series it'll be a perpetrator that went under the radar for most of it. If it's like the second it'll be someone(s) who may as well have been sign-posted with a flashing arrow above their heads since day one. For the sake of good writing (regardless of the subject matter, which is always horrible) I'm hoping more for a first series ending.

Well, I'm not sure I agree with that description of the second series. If anything, the second series also had a prime suspect for most of it, but... *MASSIVE SPOILER ALERT*... he was only partly guilty and there was still a surprise element to the murders. But yeah, for series 3 it seems unlikely to me that the case is solved when there are still two episodes left.

I confess I didn't get on with series 2 all that much! I'm a wee bit grumpy about it, well I was at the time anyway. I do think I should do a rewatch of everything so maybe second time around I'll see it in a new light. It wasn't bad at all - I just think it was a lot of hype to live up to and maybe series 3 is benefiting from more measured expectations.

Series 2 was a bit rough, I agree. You had the two plots of the court trial AND the murders in Sandbrook. I actually think the mystery was better than the first season but then as you said, peoples' expectations were a lot higher, too.

There are two episodes to go, so this is only speculation. I can't help but feel you're trying to stir the pot, and it really isn't helpful.
