Beeeautiful cinematography! Not too much there...

I am trying so hard not to watch this. I really want to experience it for the first time on a big screen.

I can't wait to see Luke Skywalker killed.

We all know its happening.

They didn't show too much. I liked the battle on the red-dust planet and the tease of the space battle. I don't like the idea of Luke giving up on the Jedi.

I feel like it probably will only be half of the story. Like "time for the Jedi to end" followed by "and something new and better to begin".

New canon has been pushing the Whills, so maybe they just get rid of the Light/Dark dichotomy and have something like the old Grey Jedi instead?

Personally, I would like that. It might take a bit away from the spirit of the old movies, but the very strong line between "this is light and this is dark" never agreed with me anyway.

I agree that's likely but I don't like that any better. I think that the Jedi Order during the prequels had some serious flaws but I don't think the solution is to never have Jedi again. Just address the issues, don't destroy the idea.

True, but in a way, the Jedi in their traditional sense and function don't even really exist anymore, not in the way they did. Luke wasn't exactly trained and educated in the "classic" way we see in the prequels, and he's basically the only one left to really teach any new generations (as far as we know, at least), so anything he can do is already pretty far removed from the "old ways" and this distance will only increase with time. So recreating the Jedi order as it was, even with big changes, seems a bit out of the question in general.

And the prequels showed that the Jedi had strayed from what they were so there's no reason Luke can't just go back to Jedi roots from a thousand years ago. I absolutely want there to be Jedi, and I think it's absolute bullshit if they get rid of them. The core of the Jedi was good, and it shouldn't be thrown out just because that's the new edgy way of movies now.

Well, yes, but it also depends on Luke's knowledge of the Jedi roots, I guess.
I agree that throwing it out for the sake of doing something ~different~ is stupid, but I also think the whole Jedi philosophy of "there is only black and white and nothing in between" is flawed and I'm not sure how the core of the Jedi beliefs can function if you got rid of that hard line.

I loved the The Force Awakens so much I'm afraid my expectations are too high now. :( This trailer didn't feel nearly as exciting. That being said, still super pumped!

It gives me the warm fuzzies to think of Luke training Rey!

No other thoughts so far, other than "it's pretty" and "I'm sad again about Carrie Fisher".

Not really much sense of what the actual story is going to be, but I like the idea of Luke training Rey and can't wait to see it. But otherwise, the content itself was just so generic plotless Star Wars lol "Light! And Darkness! Jedi! Balance! *explosion, artistic scenery shot, close up of someone looking surprised*"

Well...I mean...it is just the teaser. I assume there will be a longer trailer with more content in our future. :)

Loved everything about it and am so hyped!!!! It seems to be stressing the Force part of the story (Luke, Rey, Kylo Ren) and I wonder if that's because of the Celebration audience, or showing more of Finn's arc would give too much away. Still would have liked more than one shot of him and Poe (and none of Rose!) in there. I imagine an official trailer (not just a teaser trailer) will be out in late summer/early fall with more, though.

Okay so this is the first I've heard of somebody named Rose (and then I saw it when I watched some of the Celebration footage just now from one of the panels)...but. Who the hell is Rose and why should I care about her?

She's a new character played by Kelly Marie Tran. The character is possibly a love interest for Finn and supposedly has a lot to do with his arc in TLJ.

Ah, okay. So we don't actually know anything more than that about her.

The love interest thing isn't certain, but we do know that she's a mechanic in the Resistance, gets "pulled" into adventure by Finn, and has the biggest part in the movie of all the new characters.
