I'm not familiar with this fandom, but is that something that people in the fandom are actively doing? Because this sounds kind of like a non-sequitur on the face of it, but I obviously don't actually know.

I don't know this show at all but I guess I inferred that there are shippable male characters of an appropriate age, but the only females are children?

When I was underage, my first OTP was Beetlejuice/Lydia (animated series version).

Younger girls having a crush on older male figures is not uncommon. All the boys my age were "stupid", and I always got along better with adults anyway.

And my taste in OTPs hasn't really changed. Even the "same age" OTP I have has conflicting canon where half is either the same age OR the same age equivalent. Which isn't very equivalent, if you get my drift.

Guess this is my long-winded way of saying: Your gross-out is another person's daydreams. Fantasy =/= reality.

Of course, now I might have to watch a few episodes of "Sophia the First" instead of just ignoring it.

Ugh, I don't even care about this show but I really hate this notion in fandom that it's wrong to ship certain things even if you very clearly and obviously age the characters up.

Like... just say you don't like the ship in any context and move on, but the people who do ship it and have aged the characters appropriately aren't doing anything wrong as far as I'm concerned.

I understand where you are coming from with this but a lot of people tend to ship in fandom based on character dynamics or "pair the spares", I've noticed, and not age. People know they're not real so they don't care or see it as terrible or a dramatic reflection on their personality. Although the people that take it too seriously and start demanding people dont ship this and dont ship that, and get all defensive about shipping are the people you need to stay away from.

I'm always confused by the notion that people CHOOSE what they ship? Does everyone else go around going: "Hm, okay. I will ship character A and B now. It's decided!" instead of watching a show, liking their interactions and just starting to ship it?
It sounds like shipping is something you... just turn off? I obviously get that you can just stop shipping something if something is revealed that would make you stop like if the characters are surprise siblings and incest squicks you out. But I don't know anyone who just stops shipping something they like instantaneously because... reasons?
