76. Protip: Project Chanology is just an excuse for IRL trolling. If the Church of Scientology didn't react the way they do, this wouldn't have made it past March 15th. That's why you don't see "Anonymous" trolling the Catholic Church or anything (or at least, to this degree). I'm sure there ARE carefags out there, but let's be honest: In the end, it's just another way to get a reaction out of a bunch of morons.

I, for one, don't give a shit about Scientology and their victims, and I'm pretty sure most of the anons don't either. It's just that there's not a lot of excuses one can use for renting out an entire U-Haul truck for the purpose of driving around with the back filled with screaming people or throwing a protest in pirate costumes. :[

Ah, that makes me feel a lot better. Just using it as an excuse to wear masks and shout is fine. But Anonymous caring about something is like dividing by zero, almost.

(And I don't give a shit about Scientology, either. :/ But you can't say that, because you're supposed to haaaaate it. With a burning passion. Me, I just think the name is funny. Like something a hillbilly would say. "Readin', writin', 'rithmatic, an' scientology!"

I kind of think that's it. I mean, group mentality and stuff. Hell, they even joke about the "hive mind" so I think that deep down, it's just an excuse for the Internet to party IRL. Hell, you should see what Boston is thinking of for their purpose. I think they wanted to rent out a Duck Boat and tour the city in pirate-wear tossing out fliers and crap. So trust me, it's not all srs business. XD

(LOL they are freaks and I feel bad for the kids who get roped into it, but if you're a sound minded adult and you join any cult without doing the research, you did it to yourself as far as I'm concerned. I can't be sympathetic to people who pay $300,000+ for what is essentially an exaggerated self-help course.)

Nope. It's the difference between trolling and activism. Yeah, anon does it for the lulz, and yeah, there's a bunch of /b/tards who just want to wave their dicks around and make Xenu jokes, but most of Project Chanology, and the Enturb fora, and anywhere else stuff actually happens, isn't just "to get a reaction out of a bunch of morons". It's to fight an on-going information war against a scary-ass cult.

Well, I did come off as harsh, and I'd give a tl;dr on why I think 95% of the messages Anonymous spouts off for Project Chanology is utter bullshit, but I do concede that this project was founded to keep the CoS from infringing on people's right to know and I respect that. I know there are people who care and I commend them for caring, and I know the people who don't just add to the headcount and make the people who do care look good.

I just wanted to let the poster know that it's not all "srs business", because if it is, you guys have a kind of shitty way of showing it. But you know, that's to your credit because people wouldn't be interested if the protests weren't staged the way they are.

Yeeeeah, you weren't the only one being harsh. Because yes, a huge chunk of anons are only doing it for the lulz. My problem (HI IT'S ALL ABOUT ME NOW) with the OP's secret was the idea that Anonymous should be anything. It's a billionty different people, and the only thing most of us have in common is an internet connection. Now, if the OP would prefer that Anonymous stop trying to take down a cult and go back to hacking their box, well. We can oblige. But first we're going to spread the word about a tax-exempt business that kills people.

Well, that's good! I mean, I doubt the intentions of MOST of the people going, but it doesn't change the fact that they are doing some good.

I know it sounds like I'm insulting the protesters, but I go to them too and I participate solely because they're fun to go to. The moment the protests get too "srs business" is when I'll stop going.
