yeaaah that's the point where you turn off your computer for a few weeks or months and go out to touch some grass.

(Anonymous) 2017-04-26 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
... on your favorite celebrity's lawn?

yup. I mean, I'm not saying you can't have the impulse to do weird shit, because you can't control what you feel. But you can control what you do, and that's some creepy shit. Stay out of their homes.

I've done similar things, OP. People are very quick to get judgy about stuff like this these days, but honestly? I don't see the harm, certainly not to the actor. The person who's mostly at risk is us, for getting too wrapped up in our crush.

(Anonymous) 2017-04-27 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Having a crush on someone you've never met is fucking creepy. You just idolize them and put them on a pedestal. That is what it is. They would probably be creeped out that someone they don't know is cyberstalking them. Listening to their interviews or getting their autographs (if they are willing) is one thing, but trying to find out where they live and what they do in their private life is invasive and rude. Please don't try to paint this as normal behavior.

I mean yes this is 100% creepy and you should never admit to it un-anon but I'm not judging because I've done similar things. I know how it goes. I wish I could channel this energy into something useful...

It would be creepy if you started handing out around their apartment or someplace along their walk to work. Or if you shared the info with randos who might stalk them.

I did something similar. There is one actor that I have been a fan of for years. He has had some bigger parts but never really made it as an A list actor. I was reading a blog about old hollywood and his name came up. Turns out he bought this classic actress' house. It was hard to find the address and I looked up the house on Google street view. But that was it. I didn't tell other fans where he lived or go stalk his house or anything crazy.

It's normal to be curious. As long as you don't cross the line no big deal IMO.

(Anonymous) 2017-04-27 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Sharing the info with anyone would be pointless, if you type the person's name in the online phonebook their number and address pop right up and it even shows you the location on a Google map right away. It's my fault for even looking it up and then checking out the street view of their commute. I was just curious though, I'd never actually go and hang around their building or anything.

(Anonymous) 2017-04-26 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm gonna say yes.

(Anonymous) 2017-04-26 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
There's nothing wrong with being curious about the daily routines of your favorites, provided it stays in the curiosity only realm and you don't escalate it by following them or staking out a place in case they come by, that's basically stalking. But you should understand that what you're doing doesn't mean you're getting to know this actor better, because you've never actually met, and don't know him/her at all. You seem pretty aware of what is and isn't acceptable behavior and imo you've not crossed any lines yet or come close to any lines, really. Just make sure you keep it that way and don't take it any further.

Yes it's creepy. But honestly? Mostly it's creepy in the way you phrased it, the whole "to get closer to them and understand them better" is very stalker-creepy.

(Anonymous) 2017-04-27 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
IKR? All you have to *~understand*~ about a person is that they're a person.

(Anonymous) 2017-04-27 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
Yep. That is text book stalker mentality.

(Anonymous) 2017-04-27 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, please! Next you're going to tell me dissecting people in my basement to understand how they work is creepy!

ia. If OP had said they looked this up because they were super duper bored and sort of curious that'd be one thing. But talking about how you want to understand someone and get into their brain so you looked up their commute is.... weird.

(Anonymous) 2017-04-27 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah its creepy. Think about how you would feel if someone you have never met was mapping out your daily routine. And maybe like, take a break from consuming media with them for a month or two, just to kind of refresh.

(Anonymous) 2017-04-27 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
As long as you don't actually stalk them or tell them this if you meet them at an official/stagedoor event, I don't see the problem.

(Anonymous) 2017-04-27 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
I think you're borderline, anon, especially with the bit about mapping out their daily routines and such.

It maaaaay be time for you to back off, OP. Mapping out someone's daily routine is definitely creepy, and you're getting to be a borderline stalker. Dial it back or get some help.

(Anonymous) 2017-04-27 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
I mean this in the nicest possible way: Stop. Stop it right now. Don't do something you'll regret.

I don't find it creepy at all.

Hell, even if someone looked into my commute, as long as it didn't cross over into them physically following me or lurking in my area I wouldn't find it creepy.

I find it a lot MORE inappropriate when people interrupt a celeb in a public place in order to gush over them or ask for a picture or an autograph - yet people treat that intrusive behavior like it's okay.

What you're doing has zero effect on them, and therefore is completely fine.

I'd say being curious is okay. But as long as you're not handing out that info to strangers (where they live, etc) or actually stalking them/waiting around for them at their place, no, you're not creepy.

It's odd how weirdly judgmental people get about this sort of thing. Google Street View is a thing, people are going to use it.

Whatever, you haven't done anything. I've definitely looked people's places up before because it's fun - and because famous people are usually rich as hell and i love seeing their ridiculously massive mansions. Which reminds me, I can see those mansions because they are all over the internet because even tabloids know most people enjoy seeing stuff like that.

Tbh, that does sound like things are getting a little out of hand in your mind. It's good that you have no plans to act on this information, but it may be a signal that you need to step back a bit?
