I feel like it's a very clear distinction between finding someone attractive and fetishizing them for their race. I know a lot of people on here are giving you shit about this, and I understand where they're coming from, but I also spend a lot of time on tumblr so I can understand how it starts to mess with you.

I used to see black people on the street and I didn't think or act any different. But since I've been more involved in tumblr sj, I see a black person on the street and I'm like "should I make eye contact? Should I smile and say hi? I want them to feel comfortable. Oh, but maybe that's too much, maybe I should just keep looking where I'm looking. I'm not playing it cool enough." and it's fucking annoying that my mind goes through these bizarre mental gymnastics now.

I guess what I mean to say is that I'm a lot more aware now of the bullshit that black people go through, I hear about it all the time, so I've become overly preoccupied with making them feel comfortable and safe, but it's backlashed cause my mind gets all fuckin weird about it. I know it would annoy the shit out of black people to know I've been thinking this way, I'm not saying it's how people should think, but I understand that it happens to well meaning people.
