I really think that girls who insist that ALL SLASH SHIPS MUST BE VERS, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS TOP AND BOTTOM have... never met a gay man in their life lmao. There are way more near-exclusive tops and bottoms than there are verses. Hell, there are more dudes that don't do anal at all than go both ways on it.

Oh god, some of the stories I've heard about what guys have used as "lube", lmao. One guy was telling me he and his boyfriend, in the heat of the moment, tried using beer. His response: "That was a mistake."

Good god, no. That is in fact creepy.

However, if you're a goddamned normal person and you happen to become friends with/interact a lot with gay men, sex comes up in conversation. Never point-blank questions, because what the fuck, no one does that, but as a topic of conversation. That's when you get the details, which can expand your worldview, which makes your fic a little more realistic.

Or you could, you know, just use the marvels of modern technology and google stuff? Plenty of gay sites, forums etc where you can lurk and read about experiences of actual gay people without having to harass them irl or even directly and (in cringeworthy and invasive ways) communicate with them at all for your fic research?

I wish there was less focus on ass stuff being sex and everything else is just foreplay! I want more representation for non-assual sex. Um. I mean...you know what i mean!!!

It just seems like it's one more thing where sex is defined as penetration in the right hole. Personally for me the backlash against too much strict top/bottom stuff is when it's tied to personality or liking to bottom meaning one is "seme" or feminine. It's distastefully cliche from bad yaoi shit.

But, no problem personally with top, bottom, or neither. No problem with femme, either. Femme guys just shouldn't be stereotyped into one pigeonhole, and I'm happy. Femme guys are great.
