Are you suggesting that when girls who write slash fic meet gay men, they should ask them how they have sex?

Oh wait, some of them do do that. And are called out by everyone else for being creepy.

Good god, no. That is in fact creepy.

However, if you're a goddamned normal person and you happen to become friends with/interact a lot with gay men, sex comes up in conversation. Never point-blank questions, because what the fuck, no one does that, but as a topic of conversation. That's when you get the details, which can expand your worldview, which makes your fic a little more realistic.

Or you could, you know, just use the marvels of modern technology and google stuff? Plenty of gay sites, forums etc where you can lurk and read about experiences of actual gay people without having to harass them irl or even directly and (in cringeworthy and invasive ways) communicate with them at all for your fic research?
