Except no. Real women with actual thinking capacity is not the same thing as vacantly smiling anime girls drawn by male otakus. The secretmaker was just wording it in a funny way.

OH NOES! The Broad Street Bullies DO NOT WANT!

(Anonymous) 2008-05-25 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
There is no military involved either. She (?) is just pissed off at ugly, objectifying anime art. Which is understandable.

That they are, but dammit, they've gotta come from SOMEWHERE. I usually don't think too deep about that, because if I do I start asking myself "Why are people who are clearly not of japanese descent given japanese names when they die? Or, if they are all people who died in Japan and thus goes to the Japanese afterlife, why oh why is there a black man in there who died for over a hundred years ago?" It's... kind of too much for me to swallow.

Yes.

It's Twilight, isn't it?

Yeppers.

[identity profile] aquadyne.livejournal.com 2008-05-25 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
whatever I used to calculate it the first time was incorrect, I think, because now I have what you got. Sorry about that!

What is this, Dr. Who week?

[identity profile] seiberwing.livejournal.com 2008-05-25 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
11. ...you know, I can't much be bothered with her weight. She wants to do it, she does it. But the dye on her hair is totally the wrong color for Jesse.

23. I don't know about your girlfriend, but I'd respect you more for it.

61

[identity profile] aquadyne.livejournal.com 2008-05-25 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
61. Assuming you're not a troll...

I do find it funny the series you picked that picture from is fairly well known to fan-service to readers who prefer women and fans who prefer men.

And yeah, anime is hardly the only medium of entertainment that objectifies women, so I find your blanket hate of it a bit odd.

11 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-05-25 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately it's impossible for one to become skinny overnight, but I am working on losing the weight I'm carrying. (Actually I'm down 4lbs since when I posted this secret. Go me!) But it's not just me.. I just feel like people shouldn't make fun of each other period.. Whether it's, "you're too skinny, eat a sandwich lol" or "PUT DOWN THE FUCKING FORK!" it's still wrong. And sometimes? They got that way before they realized it was a bad thing. I've been overweight since I was 7 (not as severely as I right now, but still, overweight) and that was before I knew there was anything wrong with me. Now that I know, I'm trying to change it.

I don't want to encourage overweight people to stay overweight; it's not good, it's not heathly. But at the same time, an unhealthy body image by saying, "IT'S NOT NORMAL, IT'S NOT OKAY!" is a bad thing, either. It depresses people more than it encourages them to lose weight. Why can't we have both? Stress the importance of HEALTH rather than the importance of looking good. If people love themselves, they'd want to lose weight because of the health factors alone. (For me, it's both. I want to look good, but I want to be healthy and live longer, too.)

[identity profile] penguinfaery.livejournal.com 2008-05-25 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I've never done with personally, but I've known about the same amount of people with roughly the same will power tyring to do both and let's just say....I know some published authors.

I don't know anybody who's gotten a script produced.

I have no idea why this movie is getting so much hate. It was so freakin' awesome. I haven't had that much fun at a movie in God knows how long.

50 and 60

[identity profile] invisiblecake.livejournal.com 2008-05-25 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
50: I agree with you all over the place! Yay IMan! Everyone much watch it. And buy the shiny new DVDs. I love me some Fawkes/Hobbes, but Hobbes/Keeper FTW.

Kudos to them! Finding an agent is DFCLT BSNS.

I forgot to comment on 60...

LOL. That's silly. And great.

Wow, look at all the Doctor Who today!

11. ROCK ON! Women of Substance are not a public dumping ground for other people's insecurity.

18. Most of us would fall on our butts within fifteen seconds. OTOH, IRL, completely ordinary women turn out to have extraordinary tensile strength when confronted by war and disease and disaster. So we'd just get up, dust off our buns, and keep running.

31. Go watch The Green Death and come back and tell me that again.

[identity profile] viserys.livejournal.com 2008-05-25 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
25) "I don't understand how people can love something so bad and hate something so good."

This applies strongly to your own secret.

Seriously, you're the first person I've EVER heard of that hates Iron Man. You're also the first person I've EVER heard of that likes Speed Racer beyond, "Eh. It was okay." With good reason. Speed Racer fucking blew. It was Hot Wheels: The Movie, that's about it, and only had merit if you were to watch it while on acid.

I suppose you'll be just as vengeful when The Hulk and The Dark Knight come out, and THEY are more popular than Speed Racer as well.

07. HELL YEAH FOR THE YOUNG REEZY LOVE!!

(Anonymous) 2008-05-25 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
That is an extremely creepy man (http://www.cosfu.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=1843) :| Trust me, it would do everyone a favor if he just stopped going to cons.

Also. There's something called cosplaying for your body type (or something you can reasonably pull off). It's not just hating on fat people. A stick-thin Yoko with no tits or ass is just as fail as a fat Rikku :| Maybe they'll be having fun, but most people don't want to see that.

If you're going to cosplay someone outside of your body type, at least do it right and not make the costume fail.

Yeah, yeah, I know, people should be able to cosplay whatever they want, it's about having fun, etc etc. But unless you're prepared for negative backlash, don't.

tl;dr = COSPLAY IS SRS BZNESS

[identity profile] georg-vanlunden.livejournal.com 2008-05-25 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
That does it then. I must experience this level of profound sillyness for myself, no matter the cost. Only then can I truly be a worthy member of the internet.

Re: 25

[identity profile] viserys.livejournal.com 2008-05-25 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Fucking seconded hard, forever. Also, I love you.

As I said in my comment, I bet she'll hate The Hulk and The Dark Knight when the come out and are ALSO more popular that Speed Racer.

(Anonymous) 2008-05-25 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree; Doralhyde was much more 'frightening'. For me it's not necessarily that he's more realistic, but he was just so different, for me. I'm not sure what it was about him. Buffalo Bill was different, but I was more 'amused' by him than anything.

Lecter, however, does seem pretty "real" to me. A wee bit exaggerated, but still. Maybe it's because I've been tenativly diagnosed with anti-social personality disorder.

1. Haha. Why I would ever feel compelled to read something that the author thinks is a piece of crap remains a mystery to me.

2. I do, but still.

12. Are you 2?

17. Aww. This secret is cute, and warms my heart. You'd make a good Wilson. :)

18. Holy shit, OP! So much self-hate! D: Lookie here: we're all humans. Honestly, I don't think there are many humans who would *really* be able to keep their head in a crisis - and who *doesn't* look stupid and useless when compared with the Doctor? He's brilliant! And I know there is such thing as strong females out there today, but I think the whole time-traveling, almost getting killed countless times, seeing terrible-horrible-awful things takes a toll on anyone with a heart. The "strong female character" you're alluding to? I doubt I'd like her very much at all, and I don't think that's what the Doctor wants. He's lonely, remember? He wants someone to keep him company, not do his job for him. The ass-kicking and genius plan-devising is what *he's* there for. Remember when he told Donna that he just needs someone to stop him sometimes? That's the kind of companion he needs - to complete him, see? He's got so much power on his plate that I think he needs someone to keep him in check sometimes. Plus, even when I feel like a companion cocks something up, he never tells them to leave unless they were doing something cruel, or for their own benefit (like Adam).

tl;dr - Don't be sad, OP. I get the feeling from what you wrote that you'd be a much better companion than you think. The very fact that you've thought of all this convinces me of how wrong you are. If I were the Doctor, I'd take you along for sure. :) (Just wait til I get my mail-order TARDIS, yeah?)

LOL THAT IS SO MANY WORDS.... This secret just made me sad.

22. So many companion secrets today, dude. But yeah, me too. Who wouldn't? :)

23. LOL. This secret is fantastic.

31. I never thought of it that way. Never watched the old ones (well, I watched one with One). I don't hate either of them - far from it - but I do want Rose to be gone for good as well. And... this secret makes me want to watch the old ones, because I'm curious now.

39. I feel like this secret is referring to something. Is something the matter with Zachy? :( I need a life too, but who wouldn't want him to be happy? He's such a sweetie....

[identity profile] loticae.livejournal.com 2008-05-25 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
7. HEY, BOONDOCKS IS FUCKING AWESOME
