Yeah, I'm strongly for social justice and my blog is full of posts on the subject, but I really do think the majority of tumblr-sjws are teenagers with virtually no real world experience complaining about whatever their easily provoked, hyperactive friends are bitching about. And being school age, you got that whole pecking order dynamic, as well as bullying. Srsly. I'm very pale, but will tan really dark if I'm in the sun long enough. I rolled my eyes so much at the wank over that Hunger Games movie actress... I looked so much like that when I was younger, braids and deep tan, from being outside all of the time.

There was literally no narrative reason to give Lexa a tan, nor was it ever referenced on the show. The fact that the makeup was way, way darker than Alycia Debnam-Carey's actual skin tone (given all the racial problems The 100 had/has) which led people to label it "brownface" is not surprising nor unwarranted at all.

Guys, they weren't angry she had brownface, they were angry she was getting in the way of their ship. This was an easy way of elevating their annoyance to a moral crusade.
