Dark comedy.

I don't like things labelled as comedy that are just depressing and don't have a single line or situation that makes me laugh. Like, being a sort-of quirky drama doesn't mean you're a comedy.

I've had this problem even though I do like dark comedies, but this is the fault of people labeling something a comedy when it's not at all that.

Like even a dark comedy SHOULD have jokes in it and make you laugh but I can't tell you how many times I've seen movies in the comedy category that are straight up dramas. It's really common if the main actor is known for comedies.

I guess there are two kinds of dark comedies and I usually don't like either.

1. Dramas that aren't comedies at all, but are somehow billed that way. I'm thinking of like... 50/50, Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, etc. (these can be good movies, but I resent them being called comedies)

2. Comedies that are dark and uncomfortable but have vicious humor in them as well Usually I don't like these either, because I'm too sensitive to the dark stuff that I just don't want to hear jokes about it. I don't blame people for liking them, but it's not a good mix for me.

I can understand that, dark comedy is really not for everybody and it's honestly not something that is even easy to do well (at least I think, because there are only a few truly great dark comedies out there.)
