Serious question: Why did you delete it? Why do you care so much about a bunch of dumbfucks? It's not like you wrote something actually problematic or offensive, got call out and realized you did something wrong. Those kids were just mad because you wrote something they disliked. You should have ignored them.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-08 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Seconded, and I say this as someone who Does Not Like Wincest.

Seriously, you wrote something you liked. Put it back up. Write the series. Or hell, don't put it back up and write the series anyway - if YOU liked it, that's great. That's what a hobby is supposed to do, bring you enjoyment. Screw those other assholes.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-08 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
Seriously! I can understand if they wrote about something legimitately awful like child molestation or something but just because someone didn't like the pairing dynamics? Who cares?

(Anonymous) 2017-06-08 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed! I'm not into Wincest, but there's probably other people out there who appreciate what you wrote and didn't comment. I'm guilty of not commenting on fic way too often. Put it up again! Do the whole damn series, OP!

Also, "correctly" characterizing something that wouldn't happen? LMAO. It's fic. As long as you have the actual character behaving like himself, who gives a shit what he does in bed? Please. Got me rolling my eyes and I don't read that pairing.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-08 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
I've seen people complain about fics where male characters who have only ever had relationships with women in canon are paired with women in the fic, because it's "gay erasure" even though the character isn't actually gay except in their minds.

... wow...

(Anonymous) 2017-06-08 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
o hai thar, Sherlock fandom

(Anonymous) 2017-06-08 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Completely agree. It's what you like, and you enjoyed it. Write the series, post the fic, and feel free to flip off the haters.

Wow, dude, that sucks. I dunno where you posted that, but I can't think of anybody who would not like something like that. I've even read plenty of experienced!Sam/inexperienced!Dean fic, so...wth?

Go ahead and put it up again, and if you get shite this time, tell 'em to fuck off.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-08 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
One of my friends is into bottom!Sam and while she wouldn't complain to the author (because she's not an asshat) she would absolutely hate a fic like that. For her (and it seems like a lot of bottom!Sam fans agree) the reason why she likes it is because the idea of strong manly experienced top Dean sexually dominating (with or without actual kink) his younger, inexperienced, weepy(?), emotionally fragile(???) little brother.

And if that's what turns people's crank, that's fine. That portrayal is really common in bottom!Sam fic. Which is why, despite normally not having strong preferences for who tops and who bottoms in most of my pairings, I read pretty much exclusively bottom!Dean.

I'd love a fic like this. (Got any recs? It seems like every time I try to search AO3 I slog through a few pages nothing but seme!Dean dominanting poor little weepy uke!Sammy and I give up. Is there a more precise search term I should be using?)

Try looking for topping from the bottom/bottoming from the top tags. It's ridiculously misused In some fandoms IME because there's usually a subdivision who think it's a sexual position (like the slash way of saying cowgirl) but the proper context is when whoever is the "bottom" or submissive role behaves like you would expect from a "top" or the dominant role, including being more dominant and possibly more experienced than the top. It plays off a role reversal of the stereotypical seme/uke. Another couple of terms are pushy bottom and power bottom, but that's starting to go off in a different direction.

DA

Haha, really? I only ever knew it as the position with the bottom on top. Huh, I had no idea. So if I'm looking for a more dominant bottom, I can use that tag? Nice.

Don't worry, you're not the only one. I was in a fandom where at least half if not more thought the same and in the end I gave up reading fics with the tag because while I like riding just fine as a sexual position, what I really love is messing around with dynamics and expectations and just because in a M/M context, it's really easy to project "bottoming = submissive", so it's really refreshing to have the bottom be more dominant.

I think the true, true origins of the term originates from the BDSM community but in fandom I think it can be used outside of BDSM context. So if you do search for it and BDSM spectrum stuff isn't your thing, be aware of that connection. And as I said, some of the time it's used as a substitute for riding/cowgirl position but yes, hopefully you will find something that you're after :)

AYRT

Well, at least it's a start. :)

If we're talking AO3, finding something specific can be difficult. I remember trying to find submissive top/dominant bottom or younger top/older bottom etc. fics there, and the tags as such either didn't even exist or were wrangled together so strangely that they were either meaningless or sometimes even received the opposite meaning. Although to be fair, I still think the most AO3 tag problems come from the user side who use tags in a way that wasn't intended and isn't helpful to anyone.

Incest really isn't my bag, but experienced!bottom + slightly-unsure!top is really interesting.

Stake out your fandom niche!

(Anonymous) 2017-06-08 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
Screw it, you should've left the fic up. Just because people try to be "helpful" and correct your characterization (LOL!) doesn't mean you're wrong. Write whatever fic you like!

(Anonymous) 2017-06-08 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed on everyone who says put it up again. That shit is even more reason to write non-virgin bottom Sam.

I've experienced the bottoming-mafia of SPN too and I fought back. It's aggravating though, that people care to comment on that only and think they can get it their way by doing it. I don't owe anyone shit and the backbutton is right there.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-08 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
Damn, I would have read the hell outta that fic. Any and all characterisations of Sam were my jam back in the day. Don't read fic anymore but still, I'd be down for that.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-08 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
No matter who ended up doing what to whom, I can't imagine Dean ever initiating things with Sam. He sees himself as Sam's protector, almost as a parent.

If anything, Sam would have to take a long time to convince him that yes he wanted this and no, he wasn't just doing to to please Dean.
