I don't really care about animals at all really. I eat meat and don't feel the slightest bit guilty about it, and I don't care about what conditions they're kept in when they're going to die anyway. I care about my fellow human beings and THEIR suffering, not some random chicken's. And yes, I know I'm a horrible person.

I'll bite. Yes, you are a horrible person. I know you made this comment to fish for compliments and you were expecting to get backpats and comments like "No, don't feel bad! Caring about other humans makes you a GOOD person! Those damn tree-huggers who waste their time caring about animals when they could be helping other people, THEY'RE the horrible ones!" But if you don't care about animals, you probably don't care about humans even if you think you do. Studies show that people who can't show compassion for animals aren't going to show it for humans either. The sooner you can admit the only human you care about right now is yourself, the sooner you can start to fix that.

No, I honestly did not. I posted it because it's an unpopular opinion thread, and this is an unpopular opinion.

I've never hurt an animal myself and I never would. I know plenty of people who say "omg, it's so sad the chickens are kept in small cages!" and I think "...they're going to be killed soon, so in the grand scheme of things, what does it really matter how big their cage is?" I don't see how that means I can't care about people, but okay. Whatever you say.

I guess I'm somewhere in the middle? Like, I agree that animals should be treated as humanely as possible even if they're being raised for food, but at the same time, I don't care enough to stop eating meat, because I love meat.

I'm pretty much the same, though for me it's also that most of the vegetarian/vegan alternatives to meat either 1. doesn't taste good or 2. makes me ill.
