I think both you and a lot of Pridegoers miss the point of what it's about for some other people. For some people it's just a fun party to show off how it's great fun and games to be queer and are clueless about how much worse other people under the LGBT umbrella have it. But lots of other people participate because it still is that bad for them, and Pride is the only relatively safe time to say a "fuck you, I'm still not letting you ruin all my happiness" to the world.

Having to pay to get in is bullshit though.
