Re: Do straight people wear rainbow stuff/I have no gaydar, help
(Anonymous) 2017-06-13 03:43 am (UTC)(link)She's probably biphobic too.
Re: Do straight people wear rainbow stuff/I have no gaydar, help
(Anonymous) 2017-06-13 03:48 am (UTC)(link)nice homophobia and misogyny there, though. have you checked out the redpill community? i'm sure you'd fit in just fine.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-13 04:20 am (UTC)(link)then what the fuck is your problem? you're telling me you are not a straight woman who feels entitled to come into GAY bars that are supposed to be safe spaces for GAY people to express their GAY sexuality, and throw tantrums over there being lesbians there who may ~gasp~ assume you are also GAY and flirt with you? if you are not one of those straight women and don't condone their behaviour, then once again, what the fuck is your problem? this is a very specific phenomenon i'm pissed off about, and if you're not one of the people who does this then i genuinely do not understand what your beef is, unless you just hate lesbians and are looking for an opportunity to be gross and homophobic.
now would you mind explaining how being irritated at straight women invading our bars makes us "just like straight men"? because i'm also stumped by that, ngl
Re: Do straight people wear rainbow stuff/I have no gaydar, help
(Anonymous) 2017-06-13 04:49 am (UTC)(link)As for the rest, if you want to know. I'm not a straight woman and I've never been to a gay bar. I'm a bisexual woman and I've had it up to here with being hated by lesbians for not being one of them and daring to prefer certain men over them, because why would I ever prefer a man when I'm also capable of liking women? I compared lesbians to straight men because those are the only two groups who've expressed entitlement to me as a woman who could be interested in them. I'm trying to let go of my issues, and by starting this conversation with you I can tell I still have a long way to go.
Re: Do straight people wear rainbow stuff/I have no gaydar, help
(Anonymous) 2017-06-13 05:26 am (UTC)(link)well that explains a lot. you've never encountered the creepy straight people who show up to gawk at the ~exotic homos~ but get super offended if you assume they're anything but straight. if you want some specific examples of what i'm talking about, here you go,
http://racheloddment.tumblr.com/post/159852371805/i-keep-thinking-about-that-straight-girls-in-gay
(yes, it's a tumblr link, yes, i know, we hate tumblr here on fandomsecrets)
because those are the only two groups who've expressed entitlement to me as a woman who could be interested in them
i'm sorry that you've experienced that.

(Anonymous) 2017-06-13 05:06 am (UTC)(link)Okay asshole, I wasn't going to respond to this, but an hour later I'm still livid. My wife is bi, I absolutely do not care that some women are straight, but they don't have a goddamned place wearing shit that literally says "I'm gay" and then get offended when someone... assumes they're into girls.
I love women (yes fucking including bi women), and I don't appreciate being compared to straight men just because I feel like straight women should take a little responsibility when it comes to the spaces they're entering and trying to commandeer. Realize that if you are essentially "advertising" as gay, people are probably going to assume you're gay!
Re: Do straight people wear rainbow stuff/I have no gaydar, help
(Anonymous) 2017-06-13 05:18 am (UTC)(link)Ugh, I already regret answering like this, it's no more mature of me. I just get really angry when people assume that because I AM a lesbian and I make no secret of it, that I must be one of "those" lesbians. The biphobic TERF-y type, I mean. I absolutely acknowledge that the stereotype exists for a reason, women like that absolutely do exist, but it's exhausting and hurtful to be put into that box just because I have issues with how straight people present themselves-- and, as of late, force themselves into queer spaces then get mad when it's assumed that they might be queer.
I love women, but by no means do I feel entitled to anyone. And I do resent that conflation. I am sorry about my tone, though.
