Styrofoam, K-Cups, and those tiny plastic beads in some hand soap. They are horrible for the environment. Even the creator of K-Cups regrets inventing K-Cups.

Styrofoam was what they used underneath the new aluminum cladding on that London tower block that caught fire, so I second that. So many lives would have been saved if they'd used fire retardant material, but it was considered too expensive.

K-Cups are also a waste of money. Great for convenience, but for the price of a 12-pack, I could grind my own coffee beans and make several dozen cups.

(I suppose you could always get one of those refillable K-Cups, but they say unfiltered coffee's not so great for you.)

Apparently someone figured out that mealworms can eat and digest styrofoam, so we may eventually fix that problem. Now we just gotta find something(s) that can eat and digest different kinds of plastic.

Seriously.

I disagree here if only because without any advertising at all, you simply wouldn't be aware of a lot of neat shit that exists. Like someone invents some awesome new thing that you can only get online that isn't in your local store, how do you find out about it?

On the other hand, pop up ads and spam and intrusive bullshit, I agree with you.

People. People were a mistake.

Plastic, nuclear weapons, monosodium glutamate and high-fructose corn syrup.

Emojis.

I wish the "trend" of emojis wasn't a thing.

They're fucking emoticons. Or further back the internet timeline, smileys. Why are so many people forgetting that "emoticon" is a word.

I also hate selfies (it's just a fucking inner camera photo).

Military grade submarines. I can think of not a single instance in history where a military grade submarine has improved matters.

If submarines had been stuck at the observational diving bell stage, or maybe just been too complex a thing to operate away from a dive support vessel, so we could still have Jacques Cousteau type underwater observations that would have been fine. However the military style, multiperson, long voyage submarine I find to have been one of the worst weapons of war in history. A true terror weapon.

Drones. Nuclear weapons.

Guns. Bombs. Facebook.

Cars.

Smartphones. I don't think the idea of cellphones was too bad but we've gone too far now.

Guns.

Car alarms. They're not as common as they used to be but there's still one near me that goes off late at night frequently. I am very skeptical that they prevent theft.

Social media. It's a blight.
