For books, go with anything Julio Verne! As for films, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Vidocq, Nausicäa (and some others by Studio Ghibli), Hellboy definitely has some steampunk elements...

Also I just need to rec them because I just discovered them and fell in love.- a band called Steam Powered Giraffe. The whole idea behind their show being that they are military robots from the 1800s who survived the war and are left to ponder on life and love.

Will come back if I can think of more!

Seconding Steam Powered Giraffe. Also Abney Park was another popular steampunk band back at the height of the genre.

Also seconding Jules Verne because hell yes. Some of HG Wells' stuff is also great, but he goes less for the adventure and more for the story, so the "visuals" might not be as detailed, though a fanwork of his Time Machine, "Morlock Night" was arguably what started off the steampunk genre.
