yeah thats what i was getting at, people who think they're intellectuals because they read but lol if they're reading in fandom what they're actually reading is bound to be mostly shipping and smut purely because well literally statistically that is most fic

I read it like anon expects the topic to be brought up? It didn't surprise me because I do recall a few responses in some Dating Dealbreakers threads where people did say they couldn't date someone who didn't read or have reading as a hobby and this secret reminded me of that, so it could be anon had the same thought

I would, but they had to be on board with my reading of PWPs and like it too.

Actually, I don't think I'd be with someone who was actively against reading. We didn't have to like the same reads, but they'd have to be literate and enjoy a good discussion (on theirs or mine favorite reads).

Someone being actively against reading would be pretty extreme I think. Maybe someone old and tech illiterate? How would they use the internet?

I had a relationship with another girl who didn't like fiction. (She basically only enjoyed reading academic journals.) Since I basically live inside SFF stories, it really should have been a warning sign of how we weren't going to last.

Not necessarily. I read "everything" and hubby reads tomes on programming language and mathematics (plus politics and history when urged with something I know he'll like), and we've been together 27 years now. Works just fine. We actively engage in each others interests though, within reason.

I vastly prefer audiovisual media to writing. I know people who are smug avid readers but are garbage when it come to interpret visual cues.

Same, it feels more natural to me.
