How sick are you of fireworks?

For those of us in the United States?

They started yesterday and thankfully cooled by about 9 PM.

I just hope they hurry up and stop tonight.

They've been going on for 2 days and will probably go on for another three days. :/

I don't have a problem with fireworks in and of themselves-I like the town-sanctioned fireworks displays, 'cause they only happen at a certain time and there's people there to make sure they go off okay and all that good stuff, and the fireworks themselves can look really cool and pretty. Last night was the town fireworks display, and that took place out by the local high school. We could hear it from where we lived.

No, it's the yahoos shooting stuff off in their own yards that bother me, with their lack of regard for safety issues and their deciding that they really needed to be shooting off these fireworks for the past couple weeks (and firing them very late at night, too, of course, when people are trying to sleep and stuff). It's okay to wait until the actual holiday rolls around to light off fireworks, guys. Really, it is.

And today and yesterday people have been shooting them off during daylight hours, too, which seems very odd.

Been sick of them for years.

What the fuck sort of jackass thought that this was a fun thing to do?

Considering they are making my allergies flare up and my sinuses miserable, a whole damn lot sick of them. I was sick of them two days ago.

Not at all. I only get sad that I can't always see them, just hear them.

As someone who has companion cats, I hate them. They stress out my babies too much. I think that if you want to let off fireworks you should first have to check with people that have feline companions to make sure they are okay with it. If they object then you shouldn't be allowed to let them off.

I like the fireworks display that the city puts on, but I hate the morons that set them off in their front yards. They've been going off for three days and the noise scares the hell out of my dog.

I have a neighbor with pretty savage PTSD after serving in the Middle East, and no matter how nicely he asks people on our street, they still set off firecrackers and bottle rockets all night. It's awful. I go over every year to help out/give distractions/etc., but he still gets really freaked out.

Your other neighbors are dicks.

I totally understand. I ask people not to do fireworks because they upset my cats, and they still do it anyway. People are horrible.

You're a good egg, anon. It's very kind of you to help your neighbor out. Shame your other neighbors are pricks

Aw, man, poor guy. It sucks that people aren't more respectful about that. Kudos to you for being a supportive, caring neighbor. Even if he still gets freaked out, I imagine/hope your visits still prove helpful to some degree for him.

Where I live, they haven't been that bad, I suppose because my city is having two fireworks nights. Also they've cracked down on them recently including passing a law that says if people shoot them off on your property, you will be held financially and criminally responsible for any damage (fires and so on), so people have gotten serious about fencing off their fields and making sure vegetation is cut back.

It's been raining all day, so it's been nice! My dog is grateful for the rain. Regardless of how few fireworks there's been because of it, I've still had to bribe her to go out and potty.

People have been doing it for a WEEK here. My dog is cool with it, but it's annoying the crap out of me, and the streets are littered with cardboard and spent cases. Why is it acceptable to blow up small bombs for DAYS? I got a box fan so I can sleep because they're doing them well after 11, the shitheads.

Yesterday one of my neighbors decided to light up Roman Candles all night long. So I'm already tired of them. :/

Fireworks are fine by me I just don't like nationalism.

I went to see my city's main display this year (which is on the 3rd so neighborhoods and suburbs can do theirs on the 4th) and I remembered why I usually don't bother. IT'S TOO DAMN LONG. It's at least half an hour. That's, like, 25 minutes longer than necessary. Everyone's kids get bored and and start demanding to go home before it's even half over. Next year, I need to remember to stay home and when I hear them start, wait 10 minutes, then walk over and watch the rest.

SO FUCKING SICK OF THESE GODDAMN ASSHOLES

fortunately we've only had it going on since Saturday but tonight the neighbors brought out all the biggest, most illegal ones. Our cats were ill and just got back from the vet, they're already stressed out and this is making it far worse.

I wouldn't have to be so pissed if the police actually patrolled and cracked down on illegal fireworks, but no, since it's "fun" they just let everything slide.

So so so so so so so fucking sick.
At least this year, there are no asshats in the third-floor apartment behind my house throwing fucking fireworks down into my drive, *right* next to my house (making my dog go berserk).

But, yeah - so fucking sick.

I hate them.

Dumbass neighbor down the street was using the kind that are illegal here and set his neighbor's house on fire when a lit firework was knocked over.

The police and firefighters responded fast.

It's only been going on since the 1st. Tonight will be my limit.

City ordinance doesn't allow fireworks after tonight. Other people out of town will probably still be shooting shit, but in town next to our university campus, I won't hear much tomorrow, if at all. I don't remember it being excessive any other years. *shrugs*

I'd probably still love them if they didn't scare the hell out of my cat everytime they went off.
