Since it's come to my attention that certain communities have been purposely posting troll secrets for the lulz, I'm going to start getting harsher on what counts as a non-troll secret, especially regarding the fandom involved.

ETA2: No, this isn't only SPN fandom. This goes for everyone else, too.

And apologies in advance if any real secret posters get caught up in this.

Only a shitty mod doesn't care about what happens in his/her community. If you guys had better control in the first place and could keep up, this never would've happened.

I care what happens in this community. Therefore I'm going to be more careful about weeding out trollish secrets, as stated in the post. That's all.

What happens as capslock_spn is not my business, and therefore I don't care.

Perhaps you do care. But handling it like a thirteen year olds handles his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend probably isn't the way to deal with it.

Do things they way you feel you have to do them, but the wank wouldn't have been deserved if you would've come forward with some sort of concrete plan rather than "

Or at least if you would've joined to see what was going on yourself. Or e-mailed the mods of

This whole ordeal is dissatisfying.

Read the post again; what I said was, people are trolling this community and therefore I'm going to start being harsher on what counts as a troll secret or not. Obviously the things that relate back to old SPN wank, like "MY GOD JENSEN IS AN ILLITERATE IDIOT" is not really a secret.

This doesn't ONLY apply to the SPN fandom.

It's not what you said, but how you said it.

I don't really want to argue with you, and I can see that we're having a misunderstanding and you're already on the defensive.

So I'm going to bow out and do the cool thing: pretend not to care.

I mean, I do understand where you're coming from. But what else CAN I do? Let everything go? Some of the mods of capslock_spn ARE the very people encouraging the trolling. What then?

First you need to evaluate whether or not the situation is actually trolling.

For instance, a lot of the secrets are posted solely to make others laugh.

Secondly, have you read the posts about the secrets? Because I'm a member of

capslock_spn, and I haven't really seen anyone mention trolling so much as, "LOL which one of you made this? It has to be one of us!"

Third, you probably shouldn't have made such a big deal about it and gone on to reject secrets at your own discretion, as there is no actual way to tell if a secret is true or not.

Lastly, if you can't stand the idea of trolling or the sort of secrets that show up for SPN, you can always implement a quality clause, which lets those with secrets know that you except the secrets to maintain a certain level of quality. IE: No blurry text, no MS Paint secrets. And there's always outlawing capslock.

I think what most people are upset about is that you blatantly called out

capslock_spn as trolls. Without much proof other than a F!S tag, which you would've seen is merely a discussion tag for the secrets for Spn. As

ashe_frost mentioned, 99.9% of the time if there is a specific secret that screams CAPSLOCK then they try to find out whether or not someone from

capslock_spn really did make the secret.

I'm not going to say that there hasn't been trolling secrets, and I'm not going to say that it didn't come from the Supernatural, because there are definitely batshit Spn fen. But you have to understand why people are rightfully upset that you call out a specific group of people. Which you did, whether you meant other fandoms are going to be treated the same or not.

I don't know -- from what I heard, and this is from people in that community, they were the ones responsible for MOST of the trolling secrets to date. And I'm not saying that the WHOLE community is responsible, either. Though this whole 3-odd pages of comments since I stopped responding isn't really helping their image.

But don't worry, then, all fandoms are going to be treated equally. If you want me to apologize for my wording, sure, okay. I'm sorry. Not for getting harsher on troll secrets, though.

I'm sure the capslock mods would love to know who told you that. It would help if you edited your post to show that

capslock_spn isn't the only one you're hatin' on.

FWIW, this is what the comment pages to every

capslock_spn post EVER look like. It's (mostly) not a reaction to this post in particular, I think. It's more like the comm giving the public a taste of the glee and depravity that is the norm over there, lol threads and illiteracy jokes included.

It doesn't. I think they're implying that you're implying that you'll be picking on SPN. (If that made sense; it's past my bed time.)

I'm going to be especially wary around SPN, yeah (especially after all this, what), but that doesn't mean I won't give things the benefit of the doubt as much as I would any other fandom.

I'm just going to throw this out there: consider getting a few more people to assist with 'screening' the submission posts, maybe? It's gotta be hard to judge all fandoms, especially fandoms you aren't familiar with - SPN or not. (I'm not saying this to pick on you in any way. It just seems like it would be hard to judge something when you know nothing about it. For example, I'm only familiar with about a quarter of all the different anime/manga secrets posted every day.)

Actually, I do have a sort of thing like that -- I'm usually in a chat with my friends, and if any secret seems trollish/notsecret/notfandom/etc, I do run it by them. It's not just me being a dictator or something like people seem to think, hahaha. (And they DO override my opinions, it's not like they're just there to agree with me.)

None of them are familiar with SPN, though, and someone else did suggest finding an SPN fan that's familiar with the fandom to run them by, but I don't know any. Know of anyone who wouldn't mind helping?

I could give you a hand. I'm familiar with a LOT of fandoms, though; I might be able to help you out with some others besides SPN, too. I usually only watch these posts for the SPN secrets, and any others that I'm familiar with that pop up once in a while are just an added surprise.
