@women who shave their legs

(Anonymous) 2017-07-19 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry this is a very dumb question but idk who else to ask:
Do you shave your thighs too?? I usually only shave the dark hairs on my lower leg because the ones on my thigh are fine and barely visible but I've gotten the impression that that is not normal?
Mind I know it's our bodies yada yada I just want to know what thee "socially acceptable" version is...

I shave right past the knee, but I don't think it really matters. my leg hair is on the fine side and I don't wear shorts anyways.

I shave both parts, but shave the lower half more.

I almost never shave my thighs, except where the stray pubic hair pops up.

I shave the lower part of my thighs maybe every other month. It's not a regular thing.

I do because while it's less...idk coarse? it's also really dark and also I just feel most comfortable shaving it all off. Especially in the summertime, wearing shorts.

I mean, it's really just a matter of personal preference. I remember a quote from Reba along the lines of like "My momma always told me, 'never shave above the knee unless you're expecting company.'"

I shave lower more often than the rest, and only other bits if it seems like they'll be visible. NEVER bikini line, and I don't really go for close shaving with razors, either. I have a handy-dandy, sturdy, men's electric shaver and it's a godsend! It works well enough for me, and I don't cut myself all the time with it.

No, nothing grows up there. XD

I have never shaved above my knees, but the hair there is super fine anyways. I mean, it's obviously there if you look hard enough, but it's so wispy I can't be bothered.

I usually just shave my lower legs. I'm in the same boat as you; my leg is dark, coarse, and longer than my thigh hair. So I don't bother shaving my thigh hair

Also I've cut myself on my thighs before and never again. :(

I mostly shaves my calves and only do my thighs when I really feel like it.

I've got Sasquatch-levels of hair on my legs, but I've never shaved my thighs. I don't wear swimsuits and most of my shorts and dresses tend to fall past my knees, so for me, there's no point and it's just extra work. If your thigh hair's barely visible and you're comfortable like that, just leave it, nonny.

Also, this thread randomly reminded me of that episode of Bob's Burgers where Linda's teaching Tina to shave her legs and tells her, "Only strippers shave above the knee. The good ones anyway."

Depends on how I'm feeling. Most of the time I do just knees and below, cause the hair on my thighs is light and soft, but if I'm feeling fancy or I'm gonna be wearing something that shows them I will go up from there.

Depends on how much skin I'm going to show, really. Lets say if I'm gonna wear a swimsuit I'll shave my whole leg, but if I'm gonna wear shorts I usually just shave a bit over the knee.

Knee down only, and in the last five years, only in spots because half of my calves/shins just don't grow hair anymore. I quit shaving above the knee literal decades ago.

The hair was never all that thick or dark there, anyway.

I don't most of the time. I don't own anything super short. My shortest shorts are just above knee length, and my shortest dress/skirt is knee length. And yes, if I wear a swimsuit, some thigh might show, but meh. I have wide legs and hips, and it is hard enough to shave the bottom. I usually shave from my knee down, sometimes just slightly above down.

I shave whatever people might see in the immediate future, which can be anything from just the foot and ankle, to all the way up through the bikini line (or nothing at all in winter when I wear boots and/or socks).

The hair on my thighs is definitely a lot finer, but still visible, and my bikini line definitely requires pruning if I want to wear a bathing suit. I shave those areas less, though, because they just don't get exposed as often.

It's really not about what's normal, but rather what's practical and what pleases you. My mom would shave her legs right after showering by raking a single-blade razor over her skin really quickly and forcefully. It worked fine for her, but it gave me razor burn and ingrown hairs. Took me years to get the hang of shaving because it took me that long to grasp that the way my mother did it was not the only way and not the way that was going to work for me.

Not that unusual

I don't think I have ever shaved my thighs, just up to my knees like you. I only worry about the hair that seems really visible and, honestly, I would guess that the hair I think is really visible, not that many people would notice or care that much.

Yep. I shave it all. Even though my hair is pretty fair anyway.

I don't think I have hair above my knees on my legs and I just spent fifteen minutes looking and trying to feel for any.

I used to shave my thighs. Now I can't remember the last time I've actually shaved even my lower legs.

I usually wear slacks at work, and generally don't have enough fucks for when I'm going to the beach.

(Since I've stopped shaving, my hair has gotten finer; I can feel it but it's not super-visible.)

Re: @women who shave their legs

I might be wrong, but from a sampling of the people in my life, having dark hair on your thighs can be a testosterone thing. AKA trans guys going "Ok, I knew about the facial hair and chest hair, but why did no one tell me my thighs were going to get hairy?! I went from just having dark coarser hair on my calves to having furry pants!"

When I was younger I shaved up my thigh because I enjoyed shaving even if the hair wasn't visible, later I just shaved my calves, then I just stopped giving a fuck. Now I'm hairy and patchy because I'm one of those people who gets bald spots on their calves over time.

Though I have heard before the shaving 'above the knee' is a euphemism for shaving your pubic area. Hence "Only strippers shave above the knee"

No, I don't go past my knees because there is nothing there. What there is is so fine and pale it's not even noticeable.

Re: @women who shave their legs

Yes, I have to shave my thighs because my leg hair's not blond and once you shave that's the end of that. You got to keep on doing it.
