I've never actually seen Twin Peaks, but I feel this way about so many current shows without much of a fandom - and older shows whose "active fandom" days are long gone.

I was a major fan of the original series. The reason why the new one not popular is because it isn't very good.

Love it that OP knows it will be 'torn apart by Social Justice Warriors' (I love writing that out- I love the idea of being a warrior for social justice) but doesn't question why. Like maybe there are a few issues with the new series that need to be addressed?

In fairness: David Lynch has had basically one thing he's ever made with mass popularity, and it was the first season and a half of the original Twin Peaks.
