I ship Strange with the cloak. No joke, I wish there was more fic of that.

I do too. There should be more fic. This is the first time I've ever had a ship with an object before. But the cloak is clearly at least partially sapient and the ship is adorable.

Ah yes, the lady they spent a good chunk of the movie establishing that past attempts between them to date had been awful. And where he unloads all his pain and grief by verbally attacking her. Why would anyone not look at that and see the perfect opportunity to write how that hussy should have known a good thing when she saw it and instantly forgiven him?

I mean, realistically, you and I both know why not Wong. Everyone knows the reasons why not Wong.

I could dig Strange/Mordo but this movie didn't leave me with any strong shippy urges tbh, that and while I liked Strange fine in the movie he's not a character I feel any pull to read fic about.

What about the librarian? I thought he was great.

If they dismiss Chiwetel for being ~too bland~, they're not going to dig a chubby asian dude with rough skin.

I'm actually kinda glad that there's no real ship in the movie because Steven Strange as presented is pretty much unshippable without some significant character growth that was just getting rolling.

Not to go into this rant in full again, but you're totally right, and it's the worst part about MCU!Strange.

Because everything that's interesting about Strange as a character comes after that significant character growth.

TBH, it's a bit of a flaw in the MCU, except maybe for GoG which fully embraces the superhero-as-farce reality. But that's a rant for another time.

I kind of ship him in an OT3 with Steve and Tony, but it would have to be heavily Avengers Assembled or how-fandom-thought-things-would-go-after-Avengers.

Mainly because I really like the mental image of Steve going "Ah yes, when my tech boyfriend is entirely wrapped up in a project I can spend time with my magic boyfriend, and when my magic boyfriend is entirely wrapped up in some mystic business I can spend time with my tech boyfriend." and being so so wrong because timing never works that way, ever.

Since I don't think I've ever encountered anyone else really into that specific dynamic though, it'll probably stay in my head or drawerfic.

Infinity War? I imagine there will be a bunch of people to ship him with when that comes out.

This is such a disposable film in general. I can't believe still that we really, really needed it, and they couldn't have figured the infinity stones plotline without it.

I enjoyed it, but I think the key thing there was we needed to see a fully functional and controlled Infinity Stone in action.

The only one we've seen like that at all was the Mind Stone, which when humans are entirely capable of mind controlling people too is a little meh. Sure it created Ultron, but so what? We needed a set up of characters with demonstrably phenomenal cosmic power and then hold up the Time Stone as gamebreaking and even Dormammu helpless against it. Otherwise it's hard to get across how powerful these are when most of the powerful stuff we've seen so far has been 'blows stuff up, just... bigger'
