I'm afraid they'll be keeping them on for the drama potential (and because viewers often love to hate a few contestants) because so far, all of the others are still too nice to generate drama. I do get the feeling they might kick one of them out soon for the ensuing crocodile tears of the one left behind.

they're not the most obnoxious contestants ever but judging by the show they can't stand on their own re: designing for shit

unrelated: why do they keep taking crazy kei designers onto the show and then complain when they do exactly that?? it feels like every season there's a chacha

I looked up "crazy kei," & it didn't help. What is this?

(Anonymous) 2017-09-20 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
Different Anon, but I think it just means the more avant garde side of Japanese street fashion. Anything -kei is usually a Japanese fashion movement (visual kei, fairy kei), and Wikipedia says kei is the Japanese word for style. So crazy kei would be crazy style, weird on purpose, that kind of thing.

Now that I think about it AYRT may have meant crazy designers who do kei-type fashion, rather than designers who work in a style literally called "crazy kei".

(Anonymous) 2017-09-20 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
Nayrt but I'm assuming they mean kei as in the term for (usually pretty out-there) Japanese subculture fashions like Lolita, Decora, Mori and the likes.

THEY'RE HORRIBLE.
I stopped watching after the second episode when they couldn't even come up with a decent fake reason to not send home the sister with the buzzcut. She'd failed in every sense, seemed genuinely unhappy to even be there, but oh they were more "disappointed" in dancer guy. Give me a fucking break.

AMEN!

(Anonymous) 2017-09-20 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
I think the other designers find them annoying as well, and I'm hoping their obvious weaknesses become, erm, more obvious as there are less people competing.

The disturbing occult/illuminati imagery that they used in their audition footage says it all right there. Don't trust these white bruja witches.

Not to imply they use 'illuminati' ironically, nope. It's legit grooming or some kind of entry level cult that hollywood hooks into people now. The twins network connection to Katy Perry was a red flag too, that woman is already having a public mental break down.

Ughhhhh I haven't seen the last two episodes yet and was hoping at least one of them would be gone already by the time I catch up. But I figure if one leaves the other won't make it past the next episode because they seem incapable of functioning on their own. So the producers probably know that if they lose one they make for a very predictable story arc, and lose both the twin gimmick and the obligatory cute quirky girl.
I was sad about every elimination so far and now I don't even want to know who went home instead of Shawn those two weeks.

We have a theory in our house that the "cheating" controversy alluded to in the episode one 'This Season on Project Runway' preview is going to involve these two. Every episode up to this point has had heaps of focus on them constantly helping one another, accompanied by the other designers demonstrating increased frustration in their 'talk to the camera' sections. We assume it's going to boil over with one of them absolutely saving the other's ass at the last minute and another designer on the chopping block speaking up to say "how is it fair for me to get sent home when Shawn/Claire didn't even MAKE half of that garment?"

Cue drama!

Alternatively, Tim is going to speak out. This is supported by the preview for the very next episode, where we were once again shown the twins assisting each other, and a subsequent shot of Tim telling the judges he had something he needed to say followed by various shocked judge expressions. :O!!!!

So hey, OP, hopefully your wish will soon come true - perhaps even this very week!! I suspect the two have been given an unflattering edit, as is so often the case with reality TV villains.... but it's also very hard to imagine how you could have been much kinder, given what we *have* seen. You don't joke about being incestuous with your twin on television unless you're going for a certain kind of give-me-attention-at-all-costs.

I'm very sure it will involve these two and their "We can't work on our own so none of my garments was actually made by myself" - I'm almost thinking it will be next episode or the one after as well because even with the showrunners' obsession of "must keep the drama going for as long as possible", they are running out of excuses to send other designers home instead of one of the twins.

I am always sceptical when there are always one or two people portrayed as the "villains" of a reality show because I always assume at least half of that is edits and scripted drama. Those two apparently already won some other reality show somewhere, so they are probably at least to some extent hyper aware of what they're doing. I'm guessing it's a mix of playing the whole thing up for attention and drama and them honestly being that way, though. Not like those things contradict each other - if someone's thirsty for attention, all bets are off when it comes to cringey behaviour in front of the cameras. Those people aren't necessarily doing themselves any favours, but for some people, all attention is good attention, even the negative kind.

Oh god, yes. They're annoying af. I agree on what others said about "keeping the drama going," but there's a point when that may start to backfire. For me, the twins were unbearable from the moment they walked in.
