The email I use to apply to jobs isn't receiving a lot of email :/ Not like I was going to be hired anyway so I'm more annoyed than anything, but I'm only getting stuff from CareerBuilder and Ladders and Ziprecruiter and not from companies or my other accounts.

I went swimming today and now can't hear out of my right ear at all and everything tastes of chlorine. On the plus side I can now dive like a motherfucker.

Ugh, sounds like you have water trapped in there and I hate it when that happens! After it drains out, you might want to try some ear wax softening drops and flush out your ear canal with warm water to clear the blockage.

Thank you for the advice! When I first started learning a few weeks ago I was so concerned with keeping water out of my eyes that I didn't realise getting it in your ears/straight up your nose is way more irritating. Ugh.

Wear a swim cap that covers the ears. I swim every day and swimmers are really prone to ear infections. A cap will protect you and also keep your hair dry and stop it from getting damaged by the chlorine.

People who put their highbeams on when the road is crowded. Highbeams and Headlights are not the same thing, dipshits.

Also, backpain sucks, especially when it is in multiple areas and you can't take the time to take a break and have to carry in groceries and sit on awful chairs and just generally make your back worse.

My chickens have mites and mostly don't seem to be suffering--a few are pretty much inevitable since they hitch rides on wild birds and it's not like I'm gonna shoot sparrows on sight or something.

But I'm getting eaten alive, and the sprays and powders fhat would keep them out of the house are toxic to cats, so I worry about poisoning mine--not to mention bees since there's a wild hive feet from the coop. I know poultry mites can't live exclusively off people, but I'm so sick of waking up and scratching constantly. I'm showering more than I ever have in my life and my skin and hair feel and look like shit as a result. And the cat is on flea meds but I don't know if it's keeping the mites off her.

And to top it all off, she's not eating much, the sign of her gearing up for a massive hairball. Sigh.

There is a jell paste you can give to cats prone to hairballs.

I would like to encourage people to not sing on the bus, or at least keep it at low volume. There was guy on the bus today who was singing along to the music he was listening to on his phone and he was terribly out of tune - like he could only sing about three notes.

People who sing on the bus are just rude, although I take public transit a lot and I've only experienced someone singing on the bus like once. What I do get a lot of is people who think it's fine for them to play some kind of audio on their phone without headphones. And I always just feel like saying, Are you aware you're being rude? Or have you somehow convinced yourself it's not annoying to others when you do this thing that is annoying when every other person on the planet does it?

My mom doesn't have to work tomorrow, but I do. She's keeping me up. (Not with intent, but the result is still that I'll be short of sleep tomorrow morning.)

I have been trying to get help from Vocational Rehabilitation (VRC) since October of 2016. I live in the United States and the county of the state I live in (H) doesn't have a VRC. I have to go to the VRC in the neighboring county (C). I told my VRC Caseworker about the county residency and how I have had problems in the past with not getting help because of where I live. She said she understood and would help me find a job coach.

In March my VRC Caseworker finally got around to assigning me a job coach. When I talked to him, he said that he couldn't help me because I live in H and they only help residents of C. I told my VRC Caseworker and she said she would find someone who works with residents of H.

She called me in late July to say she found someone to be my job coach and I needed to come to the office to meet with him. I don't drive due to physical problems that make it unsafe for me to drive. I had to get a family member to drop me off at a bus stop to get there. Bus service does not cross county lines here.

I get to the office and wait. My appointment was at 9 and they don't call me to go to the back for a little over two hours. The man said he owns a job coach service with his wife and would call me in a few days to schedule a time for me to meet with my assigned job coach. We talked about services I needed (transportation and personal references that aren't family because I don't talk to people or have friends). He said they would help me with my resume and I said I didn't need it. He said I must because I was at VRC. I pulled out my tablet, opened the Google doc with my resume, and showed it to him. I explained that I took and taught several classes on how to make a resume. I told him how I was the one who helped people with job searching at my last job as an assistant librarian.

He gave me a business card and said he'd call. He never did and when I tried the contact info on the card, the main phone line was the wrong number, the second number just rang for ages with no answer, the website was for sale, the email bounced back, and Googling the business name turned up nothing.

I tried calling my VRC Caseworker and she never answered, every time it went to voicemail. She never returned my calls. I keep my phone by me at all times- if it rings, I answer- no matter what the number is. I sent emails and she never responded.

I received a letter today from my VRC Caseworker saying she and my job coach have tried to call me and I never answer. That she has scheduled me for a meeting on September 29th at 8 AM to talk.

I can't get to that side of town that early with the bus. I can't afford to take a taxi or Lyft. Everyone I know that might be willing to drive me there can't.

I kinda found a job anyway doing contract work in chat support for various companies. I start once I finish my training and since I am contract, I can choose my own hours. It is online, but the call center I will work with is based in C county.

Jesus, now the word 'county' depresses me.

Dang.

Maybe try writing a snail mail letter to the case worker about what's been going on?

Is there a central number for the VRC rather than a direct line to your caseworker? You could call that and either see if they will put you through to your caseworker, or take a written message, or maybe there is someone else you could report all of this to and explain you have not been able to contact your caseworker despite many attempts.
