PFFFT, do you watch the show? Token gesture of female main character is token gesture. There are plenty of strong women in it anyway. And I do believe it was the fandom that classified the recent 'Doctor's Daughter' as a Mary Sue, so with all respect.

No, I don't watch the show. Maybe that's why I'm not ridiculously offended by the very suggestion of a female doctor. Such ideas are clearly the product of lesser minds and should only be responded to with hostility and anger.

If you don't like something or can't be bothered to watch a good show at least have a validated reason for it.

Seriously, it might not deter me or you, but if someone decides they're not interested in a show because they'd prefer a female protagonist... why does it matter? Maybe they just want a protagonist they can identify with better and are looking elsewhere for one. This harms you how?

I don't think that's the problem here. Sure, you might prefer a female main character. But suggesting that JK Rowling is wrong for not making it about Harriet Potter, is a bit weird. And almost sexist the other way. I mean, can't you have a male main character? But if it's a personal choice, like, you just want a female main character, that's fine. But the thing is, the Doctor is NOT going to be female. Ever. He's a man. Just because he can change his body doesn't mean it's sexist or something for them not to have him turn into a female.

Ahhh, that does make sense - hadn't been looking at it that way. I have a lot of sympathy for just wanting a female protag, but if it's "show sucks, female Doctor nao" then yeah.

I'm not sure how the original commenter calling the secret maker an idiot for not checking their Doctor Who facts makes sense when the secret was about why they're not interested in Doctor Who, but I think I understand the underlying point now.

No, I've said there won't be a female Doctor.

The fact of the matter is there are female protagonists, which is why the secret is so ridiculous in the first place.

The secret strikes me as coming across with a the real reason I'm not watching this show is because I think this is sexist or something along the lines of that - the fact of the matter is that's simply not true. And via the fact of not watching the show hence this ridiculous proposition of: omfg are you threatened by the the idea of a female doctor???

(oh haha I was a bit mad when I wrote this, I see what you're saying, I just think that if you drag this show which tries so very hard to be absolutely PC, they have a lot of kickass women on it as main characters, female time lords, even the Doctor's Daughter to compensate for that. I've adored the female companions, season 3 proved one of them was just as powerful as the Doctor herself it was awesome. And season 4 Donna keeps truimphing him and making him look like an idiot over and over again. That's why the secret annoys me, it's just pushing DW onto such a basic sexist level of why can't he be a woman? I can't identify with this show being sexist annoys me to hell. No he can't be a woman, but they've done everything else to make this as female empowering as possible.

It's not even I watch the show and would like him to be a woman in one reincarnation, because honestly, I would too. :'D )
