And that is sweet... mm, I don't know, I just have a weird idea of relationships, and even a completely amazing, sweet, romantic gesture like that doesn't seem... practical, or totally healthy. Again, if he just... didn't love anybody again, that would be one thing. But someone saying for certain that he wouldn't/shouldn't be able to just because of how much he loved her and how devoted he was seems to be taking devotion a little to far- and mistaking what it means. I'm not saying I think he should run off and jump in the sack with someone immediately, but feelings for people develop with time; it's fine if he doesn't develop romantic or sexual feelings for anyone else, but if he did and tamped down on them and was wrenched by the whole idea of feeling romantically or sexually for someone else after Nia, I see that as unhealthy. If that makes sense?

I think it depends on how it's handled, and I think it would take a lot of work to be utterly IC and still pull it off. But then, I know I personally can ship people KNOWING it's not and would never be canon, because I'm just doing it out of fascination for the way the characters interact- or, guilty as charged, sometimes just because it's pretty. Fans do what they have fun doing, what they enjoy; it shouldn't be any big deal, just ignore them if you don't like non-canon things.
