That's not necessarily true. I was actually surprised more old school fans didn't kick up a fuss about the Doctor telling anyone his name (particularly with the implication that it may be revealed to the audience) considering that he's managed to neatly dodge that question for centuries.

And as far as the 'I don't know what he sees in her,' I think the phrasing is poor, but I understand the sentiment. River Song was a fantastic, amazing idea, but I don't think that Moffat's writing was up to par when he wrote those two episodes. As a character, River didn't engage me at all.

So I'm not entirely sure how it relates to the Tenth Doctor at all?

I think he's my favorite mecha character ever. I just wish I could create a character as complex as he is.

Also, there's a manga about him called Day After Tomorrow that I wish someone would translate (it came out in 2006). It's about him as an adult in the Gryps War era. I wish there were more people who would care about this kind of thing so it would get translated. From the Japanese that I can read, it seems like Kai turns out to be somewhat of a "player" as an adult and may or may not have had a relationship with Seyla Mass.

Take it from somebody who's been there: the fandom will do what they want. Heck, don't take my word for it. Look at every fandom, everywhere.

Right now you're worried about people not shipping your characters because they're canonically straight... but if you catch on, it'll probably be eating you up that so many people are convinced they aren't when you have it so firmly established in your head that they are.

It's perfectly possibly to play a character well and not ship them with their canon love interest, as long as the player acknowledges it exists in canon and works within the boundaries of that canon. If they completely disregard it then I see your point, but if they don't, what's the problem?

Exactly. The key word is 'shipping,' here, and I think the secret maker should have used more precise language. You just have to acknowledge it--otherwise wouldn't most RPs have to either be full of people grumpy and playing relationships they don't actually like, or people who don't really care who they ship with (not saying the latter is bad, but it's clearly not the case in most RPs no matter what the fandom).
