I just don't think it's accurate that there "aren't that many" really well-written relationships between female characters.

Within western, live-action film and tv, there really aren't that many well-written, substantial relationships between female characters. There are some relationships between female characters that are well-written but are only a minor element of the overall story. However, if one is looking for movies and TV where both the women are prominent characters within the story and their relationship is prominent in the story, then there are very few.
